Looking to put my stock cat back on and add a cut out in front of it. Suggestions on a reliable quick unit that doesn't leak or rattle?

I thought about boost actuated but I'm thinking that would delay boost/spool up, would probably open faster once it started to open though, and wouldn't require me to do anything but put my foot down...

I have one on my car but NONE that I have found are "reliable" or enough to make it to a 5 year warranty, and by then the company is out of business. I look for units with METAL gears as opposed to any phenolic resin type of gears for obvious reasons. We have one on one of our Camaro's also and it is not holding up very well either. If you can find a company that will back their product, that is where I'd start.

Ericthecarguy just did a cool video recently on switching exhaust cutouts because he didn't like the one he had. He seems to like this one so far. It's the throttle plate style. You can see it working at 4:45 of the video

The units that we are using are the throttle plate style also. I have found, on my DSM, that the vibrations are taking its toll on the bolts that hold the motor to the flapper. Emailed the manufacturer months ago, still no reply.
This is the company that had the unit that I "thought" would be the best.......

I haven't seen any and we have been using them for at least 5 years now. It would be easier to fit, that is for sure. V-bands aren't that hard to weld in, so you can probably cut and fit as needed. I know we put V-bands on our down pipes to make it easier to take out just a portion of the exhaust instead of the complete head pipe.

I'm a fan of Race Ready cut-outs. They do use poly gears, but I've never stripped one. They seal very well and also warranty the seal, whereas many others don't. And their wiring and switch are very high quality as well. They are nicer than Allstar and Quick Time.

My only complaints with the Race Ready are that the gearbox is a bit bulky and the motor will not survive even a minor impact.

I've heard good things about the Doug's Headers cut-outs from my customers, but I don't have personal experience with them. They are a bit expensive and bulky. Quite a unique design though.

I run the Quick Time Performance (QTP) low profile and have not had an issue. I know of a V8 dual setup that has not had a problem with either as well.

I did gain 10 AWHP from opening the cutout compared to having it closed on the dyno. This is with a 3" exhaust, 18" resonator and a Vibrant racing dual tip muffler.
