2G Best daily wheel size

Looking for what wheel sizes fit without rubbing. I'm on some old beat up wheels was looking for OEM wheels but couldn't find any. I know the stock wheels are a 16x6.5 not sure about offset. But anyway what wheel setups are you guys running without issues like premature suspension wear or rubbing

For an RS the stock wheels are 14's. I have a set of undamaged RS wheels and I'd be willing to dismount tires and ship them to you, not sure on shipping costs though. If you want the GS+ wheels they are the 16's. At one point RockAuto sold them but not sure if they still do. I've seen a few sets for pretty cheap on Facebook Marketplace so maybe check there. I've even seen chrome OEM wheels for sale.

Stock is 16x6.
2gb awd is 17x 6.5

Maybe 17x8 +35? Not crazy aggressive but looks good and can fit a decent tire on there.

For a DAILY .. I'm going to say 17x8 +35 with a 225 or 235. I ran that for years with zero issue. Currently I've got 17x9 +35 with 255s on one car and 17x9 +35 with 275s on another. 255s are on a stock 2gb talon awd and aren't even close to rubbing the fenders but slightly close on the knuckles in the rear. The 275s are on a 2g gst-x and needed 1/4" spacers in the rear until I modded the knuckles. Front fit fine. Car is lowered 1.5-2" and the rear will rub on wot with around 450hp. Needs some spring rate tuning. The 255s look slightly stretched which I don't like but .. with even the 225s on 17x8s you need to space the upper control arms out in the rear to help slow tire wear on the inside. With 255s or wider it's a MUST unless you like premature wear. Also .. with wider tires .. a perfect front alignment is a MUST or you get premature wear. If we had straight axles front and rear it would be easy but with multiple adjustments having the opportunity to be slightly off ... Premature wear is a much higher possibility. I've fought that issue for a while until I figured out what the car wanted.
In the long run it comes down to what you want out of your car and how much you're willing to keep track of it. If you don't work on your car yourself if might be more of a hassle then you want.

Don't think I've seen stock rs wheels, a 14 sucks to find tires for especially in colorado since all seasons or winter tires are a must. I swapped to 15s or 16s on my mighty max for winter much better selection. But not opposed to them just need to search harder for a good tire. Checked out rockauto but they only sell steelies now.

This is what the RS 14's look like. They are a bit dusty but good condition. I also have all 4 OE star clips for center caps. Honestly not the worst looking rim ever, I like the uniquity anyway. I took them off because the max width tire you can use on them is probably 205's (have 195's on them now). With the rims I use now, I can comfortably run 235's which is nice for any amount of performance based driving. I don't really think there is a demand for these wheels anymore but I'm willing to sell them to anyone that does need/want them.

They've never been refinished, so look great for being 26 years old.

Picture of them on the car a few years ago. They aren't everyone's cup of tea which is probably why you've never seen them.

There is some factors. My 2gb gsx has 17x9 +35 with 245/40/17 and does not rub, but not All 245 tires are same width so some maybe would rub. It’s I think as large as you can go on my 1.75in drop and still be flush with body and clear.

Shipped everything out today. I hope all is well when they arrive. It will be nice to see someone make use of these instead of having them sit wasteful in my garage. And best of luck with your tire shopping. I found quite a few options for that size by searching online, you just have to be willing to order them.

In case anyone has wondered, the stock 14's weigh in at 13.5-13.6 pounds (~6.15kg) each. To me that seemed a little towards the heavy side for this size wheel, especially since my aftermarket 16's are only one pound heavier. It's still a light wheel though!

Wipe the dust off and you'll be ready to roll! I already installed new valves and cleaned the bead seal areas, so they're ready to mount tires and balance them up. Are you leaving the caps red or painting them a different color? They were a bit too bright for my taste, but I guess Mitsu emblems are usually red anyway.

Leaving them red for now, just got tires put on them today should be on next week
