Im sorry to pose a question that Im sure has been asked many times before, but because searching the forums has proved confusing and is hard to gain a single answer from, I must ask it again; What is the best turbo (In terms of performance, cost, and reliability) for someone looking for a street setup that produces around 350 hp?

Please, I am looking for a turbo that will provide the best performance relative to cost (Produce reliable larger boost, decently quick spool up, and limited lag). Can I get some answers from people that have experience with many turbos and have done extensive research on them. THanks in advance.

Most people would say the Evo3 16g or the T-28. They both provide good spool and good power gains.

There is no single best answer or best turbo. Different turbos will give better top end or better bottom end. faster spool, slower spool etc. All depends on where you want the most power. The 16g turbo's seem to be great for around 300whp or a little more. I just got my big 16g in the mail today. The 50 trim has also been a very favorable street turbo. Searching through the forums is really the only way to find out which turbo you would like the most. No one can give you a single answer and necessarily have it be correct for you. Start your research and don't forget to have all your maintenance and supporting mods before you slap on a new turbo.

When you factor in price and ease of install I have to agree with Tyler. For the money it's hard to beat the EVO 3 16G.

Well i certainly want better power gains than those provided by a 16g but not so large as a 50 trim. It seems to be in between a big 16g and an evoIII 16g. Does anyone with these turbos wish to comment on them?

Also in ease of install, as I don't posess alot of time being a student, which turbo is favorable?

FP Big T28 w/17 psi actuator and ported is very fun. quick spool and packs a good punch. Install is very easy considering it bolts up and doesn't need lines transferred like the 16G,which isn't that much more work but if you like easy install T28 is VERY simple. It took me a couple hours my first time ever putting a turbo on.

I'm an evo 3 guy myself, but i gotta say the 50 trim. If you are looking to reach 350 on an evo 3 better get ready for alot of modding. Alot of the 50 trims have similar spool to a ported evo 3 anywase.

Im gonna have to say the Evo 3 16g. Mine has been on my car at 18psi for the past 20k miles and still just very little side/side shaft play. Im hoping on upgrading to a 50trim of somesort sooner or later though. Gsxtacy got anymore info on that turbo? (If you could pm me some info that would be great).:dsm:

You'll be able to reach around 350hp with a variety of turbos. You could use a 14b and have to push the ever living hell out of it to get there. You could reach it with a small 16g, a big 16g, EvoIII 16G, T28, BigT28, or T28 Killer. Or you could reach it with a 50 trim and have room to spare in case you wanted more later. The choice is yours really.

Personally, I've contemplated many of these, but I'm likely to go the BigT28/ T28 Killer route myself. Direct bolt-ons mean for easy installation, and the T28 killer flows just as much as a EvoIII 16G. I believe the BigT28 resembles that of a Big16G flow wise.
