Hey. I about to put in new oil pressure and oil temp gauges. What is the best oil to run for a 96 TSI AWD. The car has 155k and the engine still running strong. I have no major mods to the turbo, intercooler or engine yet. Also I hear K&N is a great oil filter is this true? Thanks

I like to use purolater oil filters...I'm sure k&n is decent but too overpriced for my taste....I use mobil 1 10w-30 fully synthetic..... But as of really soon I'll be using advance auto oil for break in purposes....

K&N is a good oil filter. I personally use Mobil 1 oil & oil filter; However, I have rebuilt my engine. I don't recommend switching to synthetic on an engine with so many miles. I have used Mobil, Valvoline, and even Castrol on some occasions, in my other cars.:talon:

royal purple 10w30 fully synthetic for motor oil and 90 weight fully synthetic for the tranny

It's generally accepted that a high quality synthetic is the best. Which one is the best seems to be a matter of opinion. Some go with most costly, others go with the most colors on the bottle, I go with the cheapest, because I can never seem to keep my pistons from having tea time with my valves.

Here is some info on oil filters.

Again, when your oil demands are high, do you want not enough clean oil, or do you want a huge volume of oil that has bypassed the filter. Aside from the truly awful filters (I think it mentions that the high selling bright orange ones are pretty bad), it's also a matter of opinion.

i agree with redyute1, go with royal purple, those are the only fluids that go in my car
