I have a 1995 gst that I recently did a head gasket replacement and belt refresh on right after I bought the car. I have battling this squeal for awhile now, and need some help with the next step or any information to diagnose. I know this is probably the 10 thousandth question about a belt squeal, but not many provide a video. I took the power steering belt off before taking the video, so that should eliminate that belt and or pulley. It makes the sound most when giving gas, or turning the wheel after start up? I hope someone can relate to the video from past experience or knowledge. Thanks.

Make sure both water pump pulleys are on correctly. It doesn’t sound like it from the video but that’s the first thing to check. Remove all the drive belts and start the car to confirm noise is gone. If so, only install the alternator belt, start the car and check for noise. If no noise, remove the alt belt and install the p/s and alt belt. Repeat with ac belt. That’s how I narrow belt noise. Could also be one of the pulleys so rotate each and confirm they’re smooth.

Edit: first belt to install is the ac belt if you have ac.

Thanks for the advice, I took the alternator belt off and checked the pulley, and it ended up being what I believe to be the bearing in the alternator. It was squeaking badly when I spun it. I went ahead and picked up a galant alternator, hopefully this will fix the issue!

If it’s the 90amp alternator, make sure to change the fuse. Not sure if 2g’s come w 60 or 90.
