As to the comment about lying about mods done to his car...we pulled into McDonalds and I looked under his hood. Everything I mentioned I saw firsthand. As far as PTW ratio goes, that could be a big one. I stripped the rear interior and my frot seats are out of a non turbo which feel 20 pounds lighter each to me (carrying them). Now we are having the discussion I was looking for. I didnt take into account the 6 speed
STi's are only 200-250lbs heavier.
Fixed.

He plans on getting a stroker motor 2.75 Bigger injectors and a 20g in the near future. I wont even think about it at that point. He would blast me seven ways to Sunday. In your case weight and driver error on his part may have come into play as well as the 6 speeds short ratio's. I think the wrx and sti's are good cars they run good when maintained. The trannys are weak and they have a crap tune from the factory and crap cross over pipe. For the money he spent you could build a talon that would murder that thing all day but stock to stock. STI wins every time in my opinion. Thats what thirty grand buys you I guess. The wrx is slow def a step down total package wise then the sti. 2.0 five speed sixty less h/p stock. They have a good ratio tranny its a weak tranny but it has good ratio's. He got spanked by a bolt on's evo VIII RS with a stock turbo I believe @ the track if that says anything. Not by much but he got spanked.
