Reason i ask is, we put in a 14b into my car today (swapped out a messed up 16g) and now i can hardly build boost...VERY slowly...and only about 6 psi.... the guys who helped me said it was because i had no boost controller, and the BCS and that whole wire/line was chopped off and nowhere to be found...IS this true? They said that usually the BCS is in charge of telling the wastegate when to fully open and close, and that since i dont have it, it wont work properly.

Any truth to this, or did i put a bum turbo in?

yeah, if u buy a coost controller, it'll solve your problems. the boost controler takes out the need for a bcs, it does the same thing.

bcs = boost control solenoid :thumb:

I may be misunderstood here..

That whole plug is actually unplugged from my car. How am i controlling boost now? its stuck at the stock 9 psi.

Someone told me without ANY form of boost control ..either from the BCS or Boost controller, the wastegate will will open and wont know when or how much boost to put in?

Im also blowing smoke out the exhaust. I recently switched back to the stock exhaust and a 14b. Dont know if my 14b is bad or what.

If you have no vacumm hose going to the wastegate actuator you should be able to run infinite boost because wastegate will "technically" never open. If your only getting 6-9psi and blowing smoke it sounds like the turbo is bad, either that or you exhaust has some blockage not allowing it to spool right.

Car takes forever to spool up, and im only seeing 5-7 psi then. I think the seals on the turbo are going bad.

What are the chances of having a blockage in the exhaust and it not spooling correctly?

chances aren't good.

I'd say the seals are shot.

I 2nd that!!

They are most likely blown if you are taking forever to spool a 14b and getting LOW LOW boost out of it.

with my wastegate hose unplugged, I hit like 22psi, like once because at the time I didnt know it was unplugged!!

Just confirmed. I took the intake/MAS off to put a K&N on, and their was oil all in the intake, and all over the Compressor housing. Guess my free 14b wasnt a good gamble after all :(

Many thanks for the responses guys!

I always thought that oil on the intake side of the compressor was because of the pcv system. How can the turbo spit oil out backwards??? If the seals were bad they would leak on to the compressor wheel and then get pushed through the IC and get oil in your IC and IC pipes, right??? I'm just speculating, I'm not really an expert haha.
