Can I vent with a MAFT?
What MAF can I use?
Can I use a 2g MAFT with a 1g?
Can I use a 1g MAFT with a 2g?

Sorry guys !but am not really sure about this one. What does the MAFT really do and is it a good buy?thanks

Is it a plug and play thing or is there extra stuff because i need a MAF

and i think a GM would be the best idea

and what GMs does it come on

And another question

how much is it going to run me???

It is for the most part plug and play. First off you will have to have a 3-3.5" GM MAF. This can come out of anything from a Buick Regal to a Corvette. Or a freshly rebuilt one is rather cheap at most parts stores. You will also need a MAF Translator so your ECU can read the signal that the MAF is sending to it (available through most of our great vendors on here, I'm partial to Extreme PSI myself). It is essentially a box that plugs into the plug in for your original MAS, then into the GM MAF.
You can run the MAF from the same area as the stock one if need be (this is called a Pull Through setup), but I highly recommend getting an aftermarket upper intercooler pipe to run it between the throttle body and the Blow-Off Valve (this is called a Blow Through setup).

The translator new~$200
Rebuilt GM MAF~$50
UICP new~$100-200

Of course if you use used items, or hunt down deals, it could be substantially less.

I personally prefer just using a 2g MAS, as I have tried both, it it works better to me... But as always, to each his own... Good luck!!!

The best options are running either a 2g maf, or the gm maf. The 2g maf, you just need to get a hard intake pipe, the 2g maf, air filter, and a 1g to 2g maf plug. The airflow will be much more than stock 1g maf so you will need something to tune that with, as well.

If you want to get the gm maf, there are 2 ways you can set it up. For "blow-through" you need to get hard upper intercooler piping, gm maf, couplers for the maf, and the maf translator. You can tune the additional air with the maft.
For "pull through" you can put the gm maf in the stock location so hard uicp is not needed for this setup.

Tuning this GM 3" is giving me the biggest headache. The instructions are confusing aswell. I got the Translator set at 550cc injectors , which I have installed. I'm getting into the 5-6 dial settings for MID and WOT and the fuel trims haven't moved from 118%. The diagram supplied says not to confuse the IDLE, MID, and WOT knobs with the fuel trims. It also says that the knobs adjust airflow at certain Hz. But if you look at the chart with the %'s it saying that if you turn it (cw setting 1-8) it'll increase "airflow" in 5% incraments, and decrease "airflow" when you turn the knobs (ccw setting F-A). And then there's the diagram right below that stating if you turn the knob (cw) it'll richen the mix and (ccw) to lean the mix.
Now with that information I am turely confused. If the knobs adjust "airflow" not fuel, then increasing the "airflow" by turn the knobs (cw) will not make it run richer, but leaner. Can anyone clarify this for me. I'm on the verge of giving up and buying a 2g MAF.

i was wondering what do you do with the stock maf? what intake do you run when you have a blow through configuration?

Hey guys new to the forums...I read up on the previous post of the Maft. Let me tell you my setup...Please provide feedback.. I just got into dsm and purchased a 1g gst. with a MAF T setup...Looks like the guy who had it before me did not do any tunning with it whatssoever. Anywho. The car has a topline rebuild and thicker head gasket with arp bolts. Also a EVo 16G. I believe its the small 16G. Front mount, 550CC, and a bigger ecu...Also New Eprom Ecu. Or somthing of the sort. As far as gauges go. He had a AEM wideband and boostgauge. No data logger. Check out my pics.
But right now the car has been a headache becuase nothn was hooked up right.

Down to the point. Sry. With my Maf T. I have Ver. 2.XX I set it up for 550CC injectors. As for the Mid, Idle, and WOT. How would I tune...Just adjust and watch my wideband and make pulls? Once agian I am new to the dsm family but learning quick about these motors and tuning them.

Thanks- Edd

My Friend just purchased a GST with a blown turbo, we put a 14b just for right now. The car came with a 2g Maf translator from bailey Engineering (version 1.3) and were wordering were these two wires should go to? One is brown colored, and the other is violet. Also were should the correction levels be to? he previous owner had a ebay 16g junk:banghead: and seemed that he moved them a bit(correction levels). Here is a picture to help you guys understand what I'm talking about:

I've read through a lot of this thread and havent seen much about my question. All my mods are in my profile, i'm tuning with dsmlink and wanted to get a maft to free up the intake on my hx40, can i just tune with dsmlink and have the maft at what settings?

I have a setup question. (Sorry for possible repost). I am running a GM MAF+T mainly for tha purpose of venting my sexy sounding GReddy Type RS BOV. I plan on tuning it when I get my 550's in, but that won't be for a few months. Do I still have to tap tha white wire into tha RPM signal or can I leave it off until I'm actually ready for a tune? Any info is much appreciated! :D (BTW, its for a 1G)

By installing a MAF-T, there's no way around tuning.

From what I've read, I shouldn't have to tune much on stock injectors and mild mods. I have everything set up for a MAF+T, I just need to hook up tha translator itself and switch to a universal cone. My main problem/question is do I still need to run that white wire to an RPM signal?

I believe most people tap in to one of the CAS wires. But I don't think tapping this wire in is necessary if you don't plan on using the MAF-T to tune. I use DSMlink and don't have either wire tapped in.

Could someone confirm this please? I have everything set for tha translator, I just want to hook it up LOL.

I just purchased a used MAFT with the connector cut off...
Now my question is how do I hardwire this thing in, do i hardwire it to the factory MAF plug or into the ECU?
Also when I get it hooked up do I have these knobs turned correctly for it just to emulate the stock maf, and not make any fuel adjustments? Also How can I tell if this is a 1.3 or 2.0?
