Basic MAFT Questions
What is it?
What does it do?
Where does it go?
Where does the xxxx color wire go?
Can I vent with a MAFT?
What MAF can I use?
Can I use a 2g MAFT with a 1g?
Can I use a 1g MAFT with a 2g?

Sorry guys !but am not really sure about this one. What does the MAFT really do and is it a good buy?thanks

What is a good hard piping to get? Dejon is nice, but they are a bit costly. Any other options i might have?

Your only other option is to buy hard pipes cut the pipe to fit the GM MAF, buy two reducer couplers and some t-bolt clamps.

I just did this mod two days ago. It is awesome. I have a wideband and it took me 20 mins to tune the stock injectors at 16psi. Very easy. As far as piping goes I would not even buy a piping kit. I did and there is really no point. buy a 2 1/2 inch 90 degree bend and a 2 1/2 inch straight pipe. Then I have heard that the nt throtle elbow is bigger then the turbo or it might be the 2g elbow someone help me out..... Anyway put the 90 with a reducer on the stock sitemount and run the straight pipe to the elbow. cut as needed. in the link is a thread about what I have done so far. There is a good pic of what I did and that should help you. Use your mind alittle and you will see how those two pieces of pipe will work for you. Also you can paint them with high temp paint to match your car too. Use t bolt clamps aswell.

since this is about MAF and MAFT....what does it do actually and what does the translator do? is it like a tuning device?

Hey, I just recently ordered one of the packages for sell from full speed throttle that included the maft gen2 and such. I have tryed to look for any reviews or people who have used this but have come up with nothing, just stuff about the origional maft. So my question is, has anyone used the gen2 or the maft pro? I would just like some input on how people liked them or some of the features that they found very usefull.
Thanks in advance
Josh

Hey DSM'ers umm... today i was thinking about my airflow into an engine, and i come up with two ideas to make a better flow

the firs one is : to do the MAF setup (GM MAF/ T)
the second is: to do the 2G mas setup
so what it would work better for me ???

Well what are your plans for the car? What is your budget like? Both are good proven set ups that have gone fast so you can't go wrong with either.

Doing this will allow you to meter more air, also remember that with each you will have to buy other stuff, like with the 2G MAF it will lean out a 1G car because it flows roughly 26% more air, so you would have to either get a S-AFC and logger, or 550s, I would say get all three though, you wouldn't regret it. With the GM MAF it would allow you to vent your BOV, meter's more air then the 2G MAF, the IC pipe can blow off and you can still limp it home, and still have a decent A/F ratio, but you will need larger UICP. Also I doubt you will make enough power to out flow the 1G so I would use your money else where, where it would provide more to your set-up.

Search around for some thread on 1Gs with the GM MAF, and the 2G MAF. Compare them, and make the desision you want, I will be going with a GM MAF for multiple reasons, I would like to be able to meter air if I blow off an IC pipe with out going super rich. Allow for a little fine tuning. I will be using a Tial 50mm BOV ( cant be recirculated), and I will be running 30psi with a GT35R, and I will be going for a super clean engine bay set-up, and IMO the GM provides all of these. The 2G will be fine for you at 350hp, I dont see you out flowing that.

How is it that removing a restriction like the 1g MAS from the intake system will not net increased airflow?

OP, I have run both setups, they are both proven and perform well. I prefer the blowthrough setup for simplicity.

This is wrong. If you blow off a pipe, you will go super-rich not lean. The mas will continue to read the airflow of your still boosting turbo, but your engine will not be seeing any of that boost with a pipe off, and will continue to dump fuel in as if it were still seeing boost. It's the reason a car will be rich with a boost leak. As far as a choice of which to go with it depends on what you want to do with the car. If it will be a daily driver I strongly suggest a 2G mas as it will adjust to atmospheric conditions and is much smoother running without adjustment. If you are looking for beyond 400whp, then go with the GM maf with translator as it is capable of flowing more. The downside to a GM maf is constant adjustments with changes in atmospheric conditions. If your end goals are less than 400whp there is no reason to go with the GM maf unless it is strictly for blowing off to the atmosphere.

Yeah my bad, the 2G will be able to flow roughly 26% more air then the 1G, that is why if you put it on a 1G you will need a S-AFC to tune it back down to the proper A/F ratio.

Not sure what I was thinking at 1.20 this morning, but yes I was thinking rich, but typed lean, for some dumb retarded reason. I also agree with you that if it is DD then the 2G MAF would be best, if its pushing some serious power then the GM MAF will work well.

I have the GM MAF and my car's a daily driver. I never adjust it or anything. I put the settings for the injectors in, didn't touch the other tuning devices, and have driven it ever since. It's working out fine.

You also live in New Mexico where the weather is pretty dry and consistent year round. For someone that lives somewhere that have actual season changes, you will have to make adjustments. I still stand by my suggestion to the original poster of the 2G mas as it is good to 400whp without over-running it.

Hey i have a stock 1g im plannin on a 2.5 inch turbo back, fmic, fuel pump, injectors, and blow off. My question is which would be the cheapest and best way for my setup, maf-t or 2g mas. Any info. appreciated thanks

hey guys i just installed a new 2-nd ver. maf translator, but im really lost doing some tuning with this unt, does anyone uses maf t v.2??? or know a website where is the basic tune up??? cause when i started my car after i installed maft it just wond go right or even the idle is so messed up :sosad: any suggestions???
