Can I use a 2g MAFT with a 1g?
Can I use a 1g MAFT with a 2g?

Sorry guys !but am not really sure about this one. What does the MAFT really do and is it a good buy?thanks

I believe most people opt for the 3 inch GmMas. As for piping, you could purchase 3inch to 2 inch reducers or 2.5 if your redoing all your intercooler piping.

There are literally a hundered cars you can get the GM mafs off of, There is a list somewhere with all of the actual cars you can get it from. The 3" mafs will be fine also, You have no need to really even get the 3.5" mafs. Also, You do not need a new uicp, You just need to cut a spot for the mafs to go, And get 2 1/2" to 3" couplers, (2 of them).

For the modderatly powered car the 3" is perfect. If you are running your car as all out drag car and running 3 to 3 1/2" piping, then sure get the 3 1/2". I opted to buy the Dejon UICP for blowthrough setup and love it. But you can just buy 2 1/2" to 3" adapters and cut your pipe for it.:thumb:

i guess im just gonna get the 3" MAf because im getting new ic piping for 150 bucks that is already cut for the 3" MAF. so now all i gotta buy is the MAF-T correct? and i can vent to atm?

You are correct!! :D

That's correct, You can vent... Although, You WILL need a logger before making ANY adjustments to the car. You cannot just throw the parts on and drive it either. You need to tune the car then, And check the logger to see what is going on.

Hey,

Ok, Ok, I admit it, I want to vent my BOV just for the sound... It was just one of the many things I was looking forward to when finally owning a turbocharged car. Now I don't want to make my car run rich and be cheap so the way everyone does it is with the GM MAF and a translator. I was just wondering how to install the translator and new MAF any links or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
-Tom

Translator has to be hard wired into the MAF and you have to use a GM MAF and put it somewhere in the upper IC pipe. Usually in an aftermarket UICP. That will allow for an air reading after the BOV instead of before. If you order one it will come with wiring instructions on which wires go where. They will match color for color to the stock harness except the pink wire goes to the red. Kinda the same.

Most people install the GM MAF in the "blow-through" configuration (which is the way to do it if you plan to vent the BOV). This means that the sensor is reading air already compressed by the turbo and is typically placed immediately before the throttle body elbow. This will require modification to the UICP and intake.

the easyest way, and without the largest headache is to get aftermarket UICP and TB elbow - Dejon tool makes the best ones, and the craftsmanship is outstanding. www.dejonpowerhouse.com the pipe can be fitted with your choice of flange for any type of BOV.
they also sell MAF + translator kits on the website too. and they will tell you everything that you need.
Good luck man. :thumb:

I have a question. What is the difference if the Maf is before or after the turbo. Some please explain.

read the last link that I posted ^.

Also I forgot to mention that my BOV is vented and I have air intake recircualtion capped. Why do people say you cant do that?

i say you get it running decent with the maft and use the safc2 to fine tune, get your logger (if youve got one) and see where you knock (rpm wise) add a little fuel if you can, from what i do it works fine, : if your car is running pretty rich , take it a click or 2 lean on the maft that way you dont have to take as much out of the afc, works great for me.

I currently have a Maft draw through set up on my eclipse and was wondering what other parts of any do i need to convert it to a blow through set up? Could someone please explain to me the process i would have to go through? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

Chad

you will have to modify your uicp and get couplers to fit the gm maf. also if you want to vent with a stock bov i would recommend putting a filter on it to keep from sucking in debris when your at idle.
