Basic MAFT Questions
What is it?
What does it do?
Where does it go?
Where does the xxxx color wire go?
Can I vent with a MAFT?
What MAF can I use?
Can I use a 2g MAFT with a 1g?
Can I use a 1g MAFT with a 2g?

Sorry guys !but am not really sure about this one. What does the MAFT really do and is it a good buy?thanks

I read my instructions for it but, I am confused where to hook the rpm wire too. Yes I know the wire goes to the "cas" camshaft angle sensor or crankshaft angle sensor???? When I find the cas which wire should I connect the rpm wire too??

If I were not at work, I would have my DSM wiring diagrams and could tell you exactly which one. Tomorrow I will have your answer if someone else has not already told you which wire!

I just got done installing a cold air intake, 3" gm maf, maft version 1.3 and I am wondering if I have everything setup right. The car runs and drives pretty well.
Since I want to do all my tuning with my safc I did not hook up the rpm wire on the maft. I have it setup as follows

switch 1 is off for 3" gm
switch 2 is off for 1g
switch 3 is on to prevent fuel cut
switch 4 is off no aux connected.

Base dial is set to 4 for 550's and this is where my question comes in. Should I leave it at 4 or can I set it to 0?
The rest of the dials are all set to 0.

I went for a 20 mile highway drive and only got on it one time getting off the freeway. My fuel trims have started going to the lean side. They were all real close to 100% before I did this install and have been holding good with the safc settings untill now. What do you guys think?
Also for got to mention that I am running the gm maf after the bov which is now a hks ssqv.
thanks

just do what your logger is telling you.youll have to adjust the settings on the maft since it opens up the airflow a lot more than the stocker.youll run super rich if you set it on zero, which is like 430 or so injectors.

I know it sounds stupid but because you eliminated the maf before the turbo your flowing more air and apparently enought where it has altered your tune enough to make you run on the lean side. I would go in and take maybe 1% off everywhere on your safc and see what happens via your logger. I have heard people going blow threw and installing a fp 4" style intake and have to take 2% out so it is very likely.

Cool I have no problem retuning everything but my main concern was the base setting if I should set it back to 0 for stock injectors or leave it at 4 which it is at now?

thanks

Hey guys I need someone to look at their harness that goes from the maft to the stock maf harness on a 1g. I need to know if the green wire from the maft connects to wire 2 on the stock maf harness. Wire 2 should be just between the red wire and the green w/white wire.

thanks

Thanks for trying but I have already searched and looked at that thread. My problem is it is not a simple plug and play. The maft I have had the plug hacked that goes into the stock maf plug. I am having to hardwire it and the car runs but shows no air flow hz. It is throwing code 12 and as soon as you give it a little gas it sputters and dies. I am wondering if I have the green wire off the maft hooked to the correct wire on the car.

Ok, I just bought a MafT setup for my 2G and stupid me forgot to look and see that the guy I bought it from has a 1G:nono: . Now the MafTranslator has 2 plugs and 2 wires that are looseWTF and I was just wondering if there is some way that I can hardwire the translator into my system? I know that the translator does the same excat thing and all, but I just need to know how to wire the stuff into my stock Maf connector..........I haven't had a chance to look at the wire colors compared to my Maf connector, so are they the same? I was just wondering since my stupid mistake has left me with an issue that I need to resolve since I waited this long and finally found a setup and cannot afford to waste more time looking for another translator.
Thanks guys, just let me know if there is a way to make this work on my 2G.

If you have the maft verison 2.0 : the small plug with 3 wires plugs into the maf sensor itself and the big plug with 5 wires plugs into the maf sensor plug that goes to the ecu. Do this before you hardwire it to make sure it will work, also by doing that then you will know where each wire will goes. :talon:

the white wire (rpm wire) goes to the either the cam angle sensor, or crank angle sensor

the purple wire (acivation wire) ????????

3 wire plug codes

pink-12volt
yellow-maf frequency signal
blak-ground

5 wire plug codes

pink-12volt
green-translator frequency signal
black-ground
brown-air temp sensor, fixed at 80 degrees
gray-barometric press signal, fixed at 3.9 volts

1-wire (white) rpm signal, connected to cas sensor

I hope this helps :)
