i install my afc and everything was fine for about a week or two. now, whenever i try to boost in any gear at any rpm that is above about 11 psi, the car bucks, studders really bad. Also the car is running alot more rich at WOT since this started. I had my friend in the car with me the other day just to see if he noticed anything funny and he did, when the car bucks/ studders... the TPS reading (on the afc) goes crazy, jumps all over the place which is leading me to believe it is a bad TPS. Thx for any help.

Check you plugs and wires. Mine did the same when I would be around 15 psi. It felt kinda like wheel hop but it happened no matter how fast I was going just as long is it was around 15 psi. I changed my plugs and wires and no more problems since. Hope it helps.

Yup check the plug and wires. Replace them if they look bad or if they are old and make sure the plugs are gapped right at .028. Otherwise test the tps sensor. www.vfaq.com has the procedure.

Make sure the SAFC and TPS wiring is sound. If it is and the TPS voltage is still jumping around you'll need to check it and replace it if it's bad.

If the ECU sees TPS voltages like your saying the car will buck and run poorly. I would expect a CEL too.

do you have a logger????

mash the gas and if the logger goes to 100% for the TPS then it should be good.

when i first got my car it was bad (on and off) so sometimes i would mash it and it would think its at 20% and start goin all crazy

i dont have a pocketlogger yet. i just found it kind of weird ### it happened all at once. one day it was fine, the next morning it started acting up and running really rich. And ya i have a CEL but its on for having no cat (i have a TB goin all the way to the back.) Thx for all the help so quickly.

The CEL doesn't mean that there is just one fault code. There could be multiple fault codes present with the CEL on. I'm definitely leaning towards a faulty TPS with all that's been posted.

oh ya... i had the code checked and there is only one... its the code for a defective catalytic converter (and i dont have one LOL)... but i do have the o2 sensor in place where it would normally be. anyways, how would the TPS contribute to my car running so rich all of a sudden?

not 100% sure if this right but

your TPS tells the ECU a certian reading, it then takes that number and puts it into some formula to come up with how much fuel to add??

that sorta sounds liek what the mas does but i would imagine the TPS would have some type of effect on that.

ah i gotcha... and i dont have a pocketlogger ### ive been trying to get as far ahead on the car payment as i could before summer comes so i can spend alot on the car during the summer. i bought the afc... which is as much as my car payment... then have been paying the car as much as possible. i can get a pda for really cheap... its just the software and cables that are like $175 from pocketlogger.com right?

i got my entire kit for like 100 bucks, fix the car dont worry about the car payment. You'll end up breaking something and paying even more money then if you just got the PDA.

So many ppl have problems with there cars, they put all there money into mods and never bother putting money into the stuff that they should (stupid people)

ya i gotcha... i guess im enough ahead (4 months) so ya... where and how did you get ## whole setup for 100 bucks?!?! i found a nice pda i like for like 50 on ebay... but then all the cables are ridiciolously expensive!

you can make your own cable really, its not that hard but you should be able to find something on ebay.

or just go to http://www.dsmloggers.com/index.html and buy the 2g kit, its 160 bucks so not as cheap as i thought (1g is cheap :sneaky:) but its still not that much. You'll use it so much its not even funny

what do you mean getting the kit? normally the kit comes with a PDA. Link me so i can see what your talking bout. The only thing your really paying for is the PDA because the software is free and the cable is like 5 dollars

I bought the whole setup for $149 shipped from obdloggers.com worked like a charm for diagnosing a "few" issues with my ride.
