I found an EPROM for a pretty good deal, after seeing pics of if I am not sure now, the caps look like they might be leaking, I just wanted your guys opinion.

Steve please chime in here!!!

Thanks

The caps had already leaked and it has the typical cheap "rebuild" that the bulk guys use. They don't worry about how long it lasts, only how fast they can "repair" it.

Note the number engraved on the heat sink and ceramic disk cap installed where the corrosion ruined on of the SMD caps. These are the clues.

I can't tell any more from a picture at this resolution.

Dude look at mine I don't even know what the problem is I can't even see the board.
Are these bad?

Lol dude I don't know what to do I think this might be a problem. Do you guys know if these are bad? My car has been acting up lately like my rpms have just been shooting up an down after my cars temp. warms up and then it starts bogging an trys to die. But when its cold the car runs fine do you think this could be my problem? I had the fuel filter replaced jsut the other day because i thought that was the problem then I checked the fuel pump but the pressure was good. I even took it to a muffler shop an they did a back pressure check on my cat to see if it was clogged an it wasnt.

Yeah, thats what it looked like. I got this car to build an make it a turbo later on but the person I got it from obv. didnt take care of it because that looks like either water was on it or it leaked somethin happened. I think im just going to find someone that has another ecu for it an try that an see if it fixes my problem I have. Is that what you guys would do?

Thats why smart companies don't put the damn ECU under the hood. To the OP that ECU will probably work for now but I would say you will have some problems down the road.

Ok so I went out an bought both of my ecu's but the problem is I have the wrong one will somebody be willing to trade me for the right one?

I'm not convinced there's anything wrong with your old ecu. That is all just dirt from the ecu being located under the hood on the 420a. You can't see the circuit board because the ecu gets filled with that black silicone stuff you see. If the car still runs and drives but just started idling weird, I wouldn't suspect the ecu.

It wasn't idleing wierd the rpms started going up and down really fast when I tried to give it throttle but it had no response just tried to bogg down an die. Thats why i replaced the back ecu not the front one yet an it is running fine now. Does the back ecu control my fuel an stuff?
