Hey guys, i had a thread on here about the car not starting but after using the search feature and google, i believe my problem might just be the ECU crapping out.

Basically when i try and start the car (most times) all I get is the buzzzzz sound from under the dash

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szcUastlmMU&feature=share&list=UUMkULAtfK1TAltTCU7YgVDA]Eclipse buzzing under radio?! Help!!? - YouTube[/ame]

So after the car was at JnZ Tuning for a month getting some service/upgrades done, they recommended it needed a new starter (luckly I had an extra and they put it in and of course it starts right up for them. The also cleaned the terminals. When i picked the car up Friday started right up and then got home and went to go back out fort a drive and all i get was buzzzzzzzzzzzzzz again.

So after reading a lot this morning I went to the junkyard and got a new starter relay thinking that was the problem. Put that in and still buzzzzzzzzzz even after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.

So again, I do more research and I just went out and pulled the ECU. Trust me im not mechanic (thanks for tutorial on here) but was able to do it and this is what I have/see. Plus I didnt know i had an Eprom ftw! LOL But check it out. Let me know if this is bad and could be the reasoning of my buzzz sound. I am lost now.

From the pics the ecu didnt look that bad.Im no ecu expert but thats one of the more cleaner ecus i've seen..

Like said if your not using the car and your concerned, send it off to be tested and fixed, You will be glad you did too.

Also you might want to update your profile..The chip in the ecu says you have injectors and what not, but your profile says stock;)

I don't see anything wrong offhand with that ECU other than a slightly messy job removing the waxy conformal coating when they socketed the ECU.

Which relay is doing the buzzing? You should be able to feel it. I didn't catch it from the video but when does it start/stop? Does it do it with the ECU removed?

Can you measure the voltage at rest and when you cause the relay to buzz?

LOL i havent update most profile info here but ty LOL

When i UNHOOKED the starter relay 359905 on the left side, when you go to start it you get NOTHING no crack/buzz/anything

When I HOOK up the starter relay, you get the buzz like in the video. I was actaully feeling them under the dash and it really didnt feel like it was that buzz but something behind it. Thats when I read about the ECU possibility and removed it.

I honestly dont know anything about volts or how to test that stuff :( Is there a generic kinda of way to tell if the ECU is malfuncting or going bad?

Owning a DSM you have two choices, learn how to fix things or pay. It's much cheaper to learn how to use a multimeter and read wiring diagrams.

Hey guys. I went out and did some more work damn 90 degree weather. So the buzzing is coming from the MPI/MF RELAY. I took that off behind the ecu and confirmed it. Now just have to find one to try it out and see if that was the problem. Steve. Saw some other posts you made and you were a GREAT help!
