Hey there I just replaced the spark plugs on my 97 GST as well as spark plug wires and now the car will not idle at stop signs and such. I used ngr bpr6es plugs gapped at 0.028" the old ones were gapped at .044" but I had boost stumbling (one of the wires was screwed up so that's probably the reason) anyways it pains me to see my baby like this so if anybody out there could shoot a brother a tip that would be great

Why are multiple threads being made about these issues?

Because the "new" update makes this site seem more like a social media site. People seem to be confusing it with Facebook groups or something of the like. Maybe its laziness of not wanting to learn how to use Google? Who knows. Don't feel as if you're the only one noticing it however.

Try a larger gap OP. Maybe .032". There is a thread here on plugs for our cars. This thread suggests others have had luck with a larger gap. Why? Who knows. Probably environmental and/or latitudinal; pure speculation of course.

Good luck with the issue though OP.
God bless.

Check the firing order. Does it drive well and just doesn't idle?
Yup, runs better than ever before except twice it lurched super hard and felt like I got a fuel cut (not even close to banging the redline) when I was doing a test drive, before the new plugs it would stumble and sometimes lurch really hard on boost, oh yea and the firing order is perfect

Thinking by firing order maybe he was suggesting that you have the wrong wire to the wrong plug. I've worked in my own cars for years and have never had a car run better than it hs ever rub before and yet won't idle all at the same time just from changing plugs and wires. Something is not right. Either a mixup in the plug wires or the wrong plugs or wrong gap.
On a side note, if by.lurching you mean you stomp the gas and there is a delay before the car takes off then try a throttle body cleaning and intake valve cleaner and some good fuel system treatment

I gotcha on the firing order, I'm positive I sent the right wires to the right plugs, I labeled them and everything. .. here is the firing order, not my engine cause its too dark for a pic...

Even if the order is wrong it shouldn't even start up should it?

And I gapped to 0.028" is that correct for NGK BPR6ES... Its what the internet told me, the old ones were at 0.044" but there were like Bosch super plugs or something

By lurching I mean I'll be boosting around 4k and then it will just... stop? It feels like the engine momentarily dies... like a fuel cut.

We'd appreciate it if you filled out a DSM profile so that everyone knows exactly what's stock on your car and what's not. It's the best way for others to help when you have a problem. Not to mention respectful of the wisemen's time. Best of luck and of course do a boost leak test!

The gap is a specification from one number to the other. Something along the lines of .028"-.032". That is why I suggested a larger gap.

From your other thread those two firing orders are the same. 1 and 4 are pairs and so are 2 and 3. Doesnt make a difference so long as you dont get the pairs mixed up. If you notice there are only two coils not four. Its called a waste spark ignition., 1 4 is the same as 4 1. Get it?
Your problem lies elsewhere. Tell us youre not venting bov.

I've worked on many different cars and without reference I don't know about this but the only other thing I could think of would be an iac. Idle air controller if these cars have one.
