Why won't my car idle after removing the bcs restrictor? I already tried disconnecting the battery. It was fine before however it will almost stall especially with the a/c on.

Did you unplug it? It needs to stay plugged in as far as I remember..

I'm assuming you drilled out the smaller hole on top for a little more boost when you refer to "bcs" mod?

I removed the little plastic insert in the larger port. I and just rechecked the connector and it is plugged up

Did you by chance unplug the maf? And forget to plug it back in.

If I had a nickel every time I've done that I'd be rich hah

Op
What happends when you drive the car normally? Do you build boost?

What else did you touch prior to removing the restrictor ?

How much vac at idle?

I'm thinking the bcs is unrelated to your idle problem.
Alls the boost control solenoid does is control vaccume to the waste-gate so it opens it up and spools down the turbo or vise versa

No boost leaks?

I didn't touch anything else. I reached down past the air cleaner and removed the solenoid to do the work. The car boosts strong and drives the same as before I removed the restrictor except at idle

Can you describe your idle? Is it just low? Is it rough? How is the idle with the ac off?
The isc adjusts the incoming air to compensate for the accessories. When you turn the ac on the isc allows more air to bypass the throttle body which in turn increases the rpms so your car doesnt die. When i get home to my computer I will fish up a link.

When at a stop my car idles down to around 300rpm then flutters up and down and usually settles around 700. With the a/c on it will drop even lower to about 200 rpm before fluttering around. It does this both in neutral or in first with the clutch pushed in.

What kind of DSM do you own?

Follow the vfaq to "properly" adjust your idle.
You need to make sure you ground the timing terminal,
And a obd1 or obd2 pin must be grounded also.
Doing this stops your computer (Ecu) from making adjustments to your idle so you can set it properly.
After that's been done see how your idle is.

Car is a 1997 eclipse gst 5speed. I need to correct my last post in that my idle dips to 550 rpm before comming back up. I was reading the marks on my tach wrong.

Update**** I tried resetting the ecu again and no it seems to have fixed my idle. I guess I didn't have it disconnected long enough. Thanks for the help everyone
