Ok so heres the deal, i have an 1997 Eagle Talon ESI, i recently bought a 4g63t and am having that put in as we speak. So i was lookin on youtube, and people kept on sayin that FWD sucks compared to AWD, so now i want AWD, so how much would an AWD drivetrain cost me, and would it be difficult to switch drivetrains?

Why but what ever.. You could have a bought a 2g turbo shell and put that engine in it for lets say probaly less than half of what your going to spend on the swap. I just sold an awd subframe, bad tranny, minus driveshaft for a grand... Your going to have to have a transmission to hook up to that engine you know that right... You need an ecu, new fuel pump, ect. I dont have all day to tell you what a mistake you made. You should have took the evo engine an swapped that in because the engine is facing the same as the 420a... But what ever.. Im not trying to kill your thread but obviously you did no research before you decided to take your route..

Sorry for being mean but honestly, in todays economy, we need to make better decisions with our money... That one is rediculous.

I'd have to agree with Viper. When I first got into DSM's AWD's were crazy expensive. So I had a few FWD's. I had looked at that conversion for a little bit and decided just to wait till I could afford an AWD. It's not worth the hassle/money in the end. Don't get me wrong it would be a good project.

For the cost of swapping to a 4g63t and AWD at a shop, you'd have a pretty nice GSX or Tsi AWD factory trim model doing some pretty good times.

Put it this way, I only paid a bit of $4000 for my car. If you have more into the Esi -> Tsi converstion than that, you've squandered you money.

So swap to awd ### someone says they suck?? Lots of people have lots of opinions and no wayt o back it up. But my experience has been, since I own and awd and a fwd, that depending on what you are doing with the the whole set up makes a difference ie, motor, suspension. ect. My awd is about .75-1.0 seconds faster in the autocross, and on slicks the fwd WILL run the same times, and mph. So if you are racing it tires and suspension are the biggest difference you can make. A 700 hp awd on street tires, would get killed by a 500 hp fwd on slicks. And before the hate mail starts I know the driver of the two cars must be the same the make a comapison, and in my case the are...

Yep here we go, with the variables, so never mind what I said, pointless to argue..
