I am trying to find an outsource for the two halfshaft bracket seals typically found in the MB526926 bearing/seal kit. The large diameter "3209" seal does have a Mits part number of MB526535, but the smaller "2497" seal does not have a Mits part number and is only sold in the bearing/seal kit listed above.

The specific seal information is:

Manufacturer: NOK

"3209" seal part number is BD3209F (Mits MB526535).
"2497" seal part number is BD2497H.

If anyone works at a parts store and can find a part number interchange or can source these seals seperately, please post up the info!

These seals are used on all 1990-1999 AWD halfshaft bracket assemblies for the auto and for the 5-speed.

I am trying to purchase the seals seperately from a seal supplier/manufacturer/wholesale, etc. Like 50 of each quantities. If I can get it better than Mitsu price, AWESOME!

In the illustration attached, I am referring to the "N" and the "32035" parts.

Thanks!

NAPA has an interchange system on their site and it gives the same part number for both the 3209 (using the Mitsu part number) and 2497 (using the BD... number) seals as NOS (NAPA Oil Sales) 16546.

It may be worth a look for at least the one of them if they are different.

I will contact NAPA tomorrow and see if they have it in stock so I can compare the dimensions and quality.

Thanks!

Now I just need those pesky 3000gt wheel hubs! (see other thread LOL)

Hey guys, necromancer here! I did find another thread on here with the how-to, as I ordered a sealed 6206-2RS SKF bearing off eBay, and the smaller side seal from advance (Advance and rockauto part# "42x56x7"){which is the "2497" seal part number is BD2497H} noted above]. I called JNZ about the larger side seal using the part number above, and only a few dealers showed it in stock, one being local to me (cherry hill mitsu) so I just submitted an online order for that one.
** you can also cross reference that part number (MB526535) at napa, which would take a couple days to get out of the midwest from their supplier.

10/2 update,
kinda pissed off, just paid $21 for this mitsu dust seal, thinking I was getting the larger side seal, and MB526535 (Part 32035 in the illustration above) turns out to be the smaller of the two seals, which I already got from advance for $4.

MB526535 IS NOT THE CORRECT SEAL REPLACEMENT FOR THE BD3209F DUST SEAL.
Its not even close, the MB526535 fits INSIDE the original larger seal, so that's how much of a difference it is.

Whatever, on to finding a solution:

Specs on the outside diameter is 63.5mm, shaft diameter is 38mm, thickness is 12mm overall, 5mm for just the rubber part. So I'm taking that as 38x64x12.

I'm going to order this:
http://www.ultimateindustrial.com/m...-x-12-38x64x12-38mm-x-64mm-x-12mm-double-lip/

which came to $7.56 shipped, and compare it to the original seal. Will report back with findings...

For now, here's the carrier with the new bearing and 42x56x7 seal installed...

Here's the large side, and me measuring...

*After further research, This is also a 1-1/2" x 2-1/2" x 5/16" oil seal, national oil seal part number in bold is 473228, which must be a "normal" seal for them. If you google that part number, you get all sorts of fun options from all kinds of places. 473228 is only 8mm thick tho, and our factory ones are 12mm thick, so I'll keep looking for more options.

**After even more research, National Oil Seal shows a 51098, which is 1.5 x 2.5 x .437 (11mm), and its shown on autozone's site for a "Bearings & Seals/Pinion Seal - Rear (Part Number: 51098) for your 1979 Mazda RX7 1.1L 4BL Rotary." It's $3.89 plus shipping from RockAuto: http://www.rockauto.com/dbphp/x,catalog,13,partnum,51098,d,National_51098.html

and $6-7 at Advance/Autozone, but I doubt they have it in stock, so you'd have to order it. But you can find it all over the place, just google it.

***Ordered it from RockAuto, so I can compare the 2 seals once they get here, $6.53 shipped for 1.

Update, after receiving the 2 seals I ordered, here's what I've come up with...

Here's are the parts:

Left to right, National Oil Seal 51098 from RockAuto $6.53 shipped, Metric Oil Shaft Seal 38 x 64 x 12 38x64x12 38mm x 64mm x 12mm Double Lip from Ultimate Industrial Solutions $7.56 shipped, the oem NOK seal, carrier assembly (which already has a new SKF 6206-2RS1 bearing, $11.94 shipped from ebay, and the 42x56x7 seal which I got from Advance ~$4 with free shipping on an order over $100).

Here's a closer-up of the seals:

As you can see, the OEM seal is double lipped. The Ultimate seal is also double lipped, but the National seal is not. The oem seal has a metal "Surround", the national seal does also, but the Ultimate seal is all rubber or whatever. The OEM seal is 12mm thick, the Ultimate seal is 12mm thick, but the National is a little less.

Here's the oem seal on the shaft:

The Ultimate Seal is the clear winner here. So for the 3 parts, the entire rebuild is roughly $25 total.

No problem at all! Twicks doesn't think the 2nd seal is required, because the new bearing is a sealed bearing, but I figured for 7 bucks, why not have a new seal on that side too.

I also think that maybe my carrier was rebuilt, because the bearing I took out was a sealed bearing, but if that's true, then they also did it at a time when oem seals were able to be purchased? Or maybe the whole carrier was replaced and mitsu upgraded the bearing to sealed bearings. Because I had 2 NOK seals, plus a sealed bearing in mine when I took it apart.

At any rate, here's a direct link to the seal:

Thanks for the link man, just got to ordering mine, I also have two of these half shafts sitting on my work bench, and they both also have the same sealed bearing like yours, I guess it's hit and miss with these things.

Nice to hear, so your oem's were sealed like mine was, and not exposed-balls like Twicks ?
