What's up everyone, can't believe it's been 20 years since I had my Eclipse. Like everyone else I got married, had kids, etc.. I actually feel like I'm having my midlife crisis now as I've been stalking classifieds for Eclipse and tuner cars. I want to be a kid again

20+ year member here. I was just 18 years old when I joined, and now about to turn 40. Blows my mind how quickly time passes.
I came back on here a couple of nights ago to look at the classifieds as I’m considering getting back into DSMs in the near future to relive those days.
Last login before then was back in 2015. I got into Evo’s and 03/04 Cobras for a period of time and hadn’t been back in a DSM since.

Last night I was looking over my old posts from 2004 or so and getting a kick out of where I was at that point of my life, how green I was with cars, how differently I spoke, my maturity level, etc at such a young age.
It’s amazing that this forum and DSM platform has stood the test of time, Hopefully it continues to do so as it just brings back so many memories for me. These cars taught me so much.

But it's crazy to think back at that auction where I was unknowingly bidding against the guy who ran a local Mitsu club I would later join, and scored my first DSM (my other profile car). That was 16 years ago.

Only had four since 2008, two being parts only. I hold onto all my (driveable) cars at least 8 years a piece, it seems.. of course, being 42 now, I'm more "you want how much $ for that? are you crazy?" with new cars.

I was so green when I first started with cars that I placed the thrust bearing on the #1 saddle. I didn't bolt it down and I corrected it quickly enough but still.. I decided I would read up before I did anything after that.

While there are a few that still keep it afloat, it died when it was sold almost 20 years ago to AutoFourms.

I am the Admin there but that is a corporate entity. I just pop in to remove SPAM, approve/disapprove registrations so they don't destroy everything that was created there over decades. That site died a long time ago, unfortunately, but I still spend my free time to keep it semi-functional at least for archival reasons.

I’m seeing some familiar names from back then in this thread. I left the DSM game in ‘14 to pursue restoring a classic car. Ended up meeting my (now) wife a few months later. And cars have been put on the back burner. I popped in the hangout every once in a while in the past 10 years. I’ve been hanging around here more now that I’m looking to get back into DSMs.

Bob is local to me... I haven't talked to him in awhile, but he is still around. He still has his 2g, and I believe it has @ 29k miles on it last time I was at his house.
He was a huge help to me when I first started working in dsm's, and that's been over 20yrs now.

I haven’t spoken to Bob in 20 years, so it’s great to hear he’s still in the game. Last time we talked, I’m pretty sure I was calling him for advice on where to buy cheap Green DOT retreads for my GSX. Ended up taking a trip down to Anderson, SC and snagged them for $55 a piece.

Greensboro is still growing. Apartment complexes blowing up everywhere, and the Toyota battery plant on 421 is massive.

As much of a f***ing pain in the ass is it was sometimes, that was such a great time period to be part of the DSM community - a great vibe and good mix of camaraderie and quality contributions (most of which have been chronicled here) from so many people compared to what you see these days. Crazy how long ago it was.
