Automatic tranny problems. manual tranny swap?

Hey guys, i just finished getting my motor back together after a fresh build, this is the first time i ever drove this car (i bought it with a motor). well anyways when i put the car in drive, it loves to slip really badly, for example ill be around 2500rpms barley moving. when i put it in "L" or "2" nothing happens just sits in the same gear, the tranny goes into reverse, and park and everything. just seems to be stuck in 2nd though..i replaces the fluid. its all new at the proper level. but i have no history on this tranny..

So my question is, how hard would it be to swap a 5 speed in?
i really don't like automatics... way too boring to drive.

i can pick up a TSI 5speed locally, and get all the linkages and everything..

Heres a VFAQ write-up, its for a FWD 1g so you'll have to include all the AWD M/T parts in the swap as well i.e. AWD tranny, transfer case, & rear end.

We might need some more information about what is happening. When you say that it slips do you mean that the rpms rise quickly without increasing speed? Or, does it just feel sluggish?

These cars will go into limp mode sometimes for sensor issues and this would cause the car to stay in 3rd gear all the time. The alternative if it is switching gears but slipping is generally end clutches. With a clearer description we can probably help you fix it without ever pulling the tranny and for a fair price.

If your wanting to do a swap I might have everything to swap over to a stick. Im wanting a auto drivetrain.
