Help so I am trying to change my shift knob. I wanted a shorter more ball feel. So I got a pt cruiser knob. Well the way the current one was it has the O/D button on the side. And so to get it off I cut the wires. My SRS LIGHT CAME ON. (Who needs airbags)
But my real concern is that I feel like my O/D IS off and it's not going as fast as it should like it's not shifting into overdrive. Do the wires that I cut, cut off the light? Or maybe I'm over thinking it.

Is your car not shifting into 4th at freeway speeds? What is your cruising RPM? The overdrive button on the shifter normally lets you 'turn off' fourth gear (overdrive) for driving in hills and things- I'm not sure exactly how that switch is wired up but you might have it permanently 'off' with the wires cut.

Cruising Rpm are about 4000 at highway speeds

Depends on the circuit. I didn't look it up. Did it work before? You sound like you want it to not be the problem or you don't want to do any diagnostics at all. There is no way for any of us to completely diagnose your problem.
It did work. No I have not done any diagnostic I will hook it back up Friday. Just wondering if anyone on here had the same prob. I know nobody can come through the screen LOL it was worth a try
