Hi fellow DSM'rs, i have 1997 gsx and i needed help on hiw to extend my overdrive button so i can relocate it.
Do i just go and buy positive and negative wire? Slice the button from the wire and just hook up the extra wires to each end to extend it?
Any help woyld be much appreciated, thanks un advance everyone

Effectively, yes, that is all you need to do, though there are five wires running to the switch and if you want to maintain all original functionality, lights and all, you'll need to extend all five.

Ok thank you, but ive only seen 3 so far thats pictured.
How would i extend the other 2 and where are they located?

Sorry, wasn't thinking and read the diagram wrong. You're correct, there are only three running to the switch itself. The others are at the connector where those three trace back to and are for the selector lever position lighting.

I was just thinking about doing this. Glad I found this post. Could you post more pictures of what you've done such as mounting location? I have an idea of where I may put mine, but looking for ideas. Wiring won't be an issue for me, I like wiring jobs.

Basically I bought extra wire from orchard supply cut and extended the overdrive button as long as I wanted it, hid the wire on the inside of the center console, up to the steering wheel cover.
Then I bought 2 magnets (they're pretty strong and usually come in a pack of 2)
Used double sided tape to mount one magnet to the overdrive button, the other to the inside of the steering wheel cover and there you go. Stays together really strong and is comfortable too :)
Hope this helped :) let me know if you have any questions

Sounds like a good way to mount up/down shift buttons for shift boxes and NO2 buttons. Very simple and effective. Even a Arc2 box 2 step. I like the idea. :thumb:
Very nice wheel and setup Eddy.
