Question about overdrive 97 gsx automatic

i just bought a 1997 gsx 4 days ago and i been drivin the car with the overdrive switch off i just got to go threw the manual today and found out more about it. my question is i drove the car at speeds 70-80 with the overdrive off and my rpms were up in the 4s and 5s did i cause any damage or is it ok? should i keep it on at all times?

Just do what the manuel says. It should tell you if you need to have it on or off during crusing, or other driving conditions

If you are on the freeway just turn over drive on.

Cruising down the freeway with O/D off at 4500rpm won't hurt anything but your gas mileage. It's there so that you can run at a lower rpm at high speeds.
