When I turn my overdrive switch off I don't see a light on the dash come up also I know its not working because I tested it on the highway I was goin 70-80mph turning the switch off and on and my rpms weren't changin at all....what should I do to get it to work again?

Its a 97 gsx with 122k miles

Could be loose wires, bad switch (PO removed light bulb), bad solenoids, or bad end clutch.

Do you have problems with any other gears?
Well I been latley getting a cel light and when I scan it I get p1750 which is solenoid assembly malfunction...when I'm goin 80mph the rpm is high like in the 5s and if I go any faster it won't go into another gear so it really sucks just will keep makin the rpms go more then 5s :(

You can change the clutches & plates for 4th while the box is in the car.
Drain the oil, undo the round alli section on the side of the box, remove
the black 4th clutch pack, remove the round circlip to get the clutches &
plates out, if they are shagged, buy new ones & assemble the same.
Put a new filter in it & new 95 grade Ford fluid while you are at it.
Cheers !

Here's a writeup for the end clutches:

If it's the solenoids, it pretty wasy to do as well, look on that same link for a shift kit install and it shows you where they all are. If you have the money and you're replacing your fluid and filter (which is a good idea) I would use either redline or amsoil (if you can afford it). The two best options for autos per kiggly, IPT, etc.

The end clutches are really easy to do. If you've done any work to your car, chances are something you've done is harder than replacing the end clutches. Good luck.

i already got a shift kit in it these are my tranny mods:

PI - dragon torque converter 3500 stall
black spring shift kit
b&m tranny cooler

I would check the solenoids (test the ohms). It sounds like it isn't even trying to engage. If it was just your OD clutch pack then it would just rev up and not catch when you kicked on OD. My OD light doesn't come on anymore but I think that is due to the bulb because is still kicks into gear. Try testing it the opposite way. Drive down the highway at 70mph with the OD on and kick it off. You should definately see a spike in RPMs as it downshifts.

I actually have that same code showing up on my car, except all my gears work fine. I think mine tries to go into OD, but fails on occasion, but the next time it tries, it works. I haven't tried to pull TCU codes.

Try this to pull the codes:
