So I bought my talon when it didn't run(timing belt), and after buying a new TCU thanks to bad caps, I've been driving it around, but it seems like my torque converter never locks up. The TCU I bought is the correct one, and it goes through all the gears correctly -- 1, 2, 3, overdrive, but I never 'feel' it or notice a drop in RPMs after my car goes into overdrive, as if the torque converter never locks up. Are the torque convertors on these cars noticeable when they lock up or do they lock up when it goes into overdrive? I noticed it drops like 1k rpm when it shifts into overdrive which seems like a lot. I haven't driven a ton of automatics, but all the ones I have driven I can tell when the TC locks up, and can usually force it out of it by hitting the brakes.

I've taken it out on the highway and got it up to ample speed plenty of times and made sure it was warm, and I'm full on fluid too...

Thanks in advance :)

All is well, that particular part of your DSM is not broken.
The 1992 Talon is a 1G, it does not have a lock up converter.

ah okay, thanks, that makes me feel better :)

another question though, do you know why all the schematics I look at show a damper control solenoid for a lock up convertor? I also am pretty sure that when I had my valve body down(long story) that it had the solenoid in it(not positive), just seems odd to me, is it possible to put a lock up style converter(2g?) in or will it conflict? I've never understood how you can have a overdrive transmission without a lock up converter.

thanks
