Reinstalling the Torque Convertor..

Okay, so I'm about to put my trans back on my engine before I drop it back it. When I went to take it out, I was having a hard time seperating the TC and keeping it with the transmission. And since I had already managed to get the transmission on a pallet and the engine was still on the hoist, I just continued to seperate it. (I later found out that my service manual that showed a 3 star flexplate, when I actually had a 4 star, so I missed a bolt) Anyways, I got it off, and lost a little bit of ATF out of it.
My questions are:
Should I refill my TC before I put it back in the transmission? I've heard a couple times that on high stall convertors(this is a stock one though) you need to fill it up with ATF before installing it. Whats the best way to do it? Just lie it on it's back and fill it up to the brim?
Also, is there any special alignment that needs to be done with the TC and transmission?

I don't believe there is guide or notch that the TC has to slide into, but this is what you need to do.

First, get another bolt for the flex plate/TC. Make sure it's the right thread! I found out that for some reason different year DSM TCs had very very slightly different threads for their bolts.

Second, wait for someone else to chime in about the TC being filled with fluid. That's a good question and I don't know what is best practice for that, I'm only telling you everything I've learned from my experience with my AT fun....

Third, when you put the TC back in the transmission, let it slide in all the way and then rotate it. You'll hear it clunk once or twice and it should drop all the way into the bell housing, you'll know when it's in all the way.

Hey just wanted to inform everyone, I've been studying my automatic tear down sheets, and information on Torque Convertors. It seems as the only logical option is to fill the Torque convertor up first. One manual I read said
"Fill up the Torque Convertor as much as possible"
So i'll just lie it on its back and fill it up to the brim and let the little bit in the shaft come out when i tip it rightside up.

Just in case anyone else needs to know in the future!
