I have an eclipse spyder (4g64) auto and i've been looking for a nice gsx for some time now. I found an amazing one for 6gs. The only problem i see its that its an automatic and i've been wating to drive manual for some time now... My question is.. Around how much money would it be to convert to a 5 speed & is it worth it in a gsx? Or should i just keep looking for a manual one..?open to opinions

6k? It better be perfect. Post up the craigslist ad let us see it. If you do it yourself (which you're probably not going to do since your asking) it'd be just parts. Otherwise expect to spend at least a couple grand parts + labor.

With an auto you can brake boost at the line and never loose boost between shifts which equals a better e.t.at the track.

if that gsx is stock I would never pay 6k for it... it better have a built motor and almost everything I could imagine to go fast. (Better have at least have these things for anywhere close to paying 6k: FMIC, dsmlink, tune, injectors, bigger fuel system, and BIG turbo)... with all those things, what his ad said and a stock motor I would start to think about buying it but 6k is waayy to high for a stock dsm.

The manual swap would be most expensive on the AWD's because not only the tranny would have to be replaced, but the transfer case and rear differential since the gear ratio varies from auto to manual.

That GSX is nasty clean!

I disagree. I'll gladly pay MORE for an unmolested, stock dsm than some hack job "built" dsm.

Like stated, the Auto's are actually a good amount faster drag cars and the auto transmission is much stronger than the 5 speeds. Parts for the swap honestly wouldn't run you much if at all. Lots of people want to do a manual to auto swap, and I'd bet you could find someone easily that would trade straight across.
