heres the deal.. Im thinking about trading an 01 kx 125 for a 97 gst and i want some input if its a good idea or not!! The gst has has 120k on the body and he has taken the motor out and has redone another motor for it.. Its a 7bolt block that has 50k on it and all new gaskets and seals. he said he has checked everything and its within tolerance and the cylinder walls are in perfect condition.. He said hes checked and rechecked everything over and over and torqued everything to spec.. It has a 6 bolt head and manifold and exhaust manifold multilayer head gasket obd2 swapped throttle body from second gen and new gaskets and seals. The timing belt and balance shaft belt with water pump is all new with being torque to spec. Tranny with new clutch is torque and bled and all hooked up and ready to go.. The car also comes with a brand new 99 buddy club front bumper and 3 inch stainless steel turbo back exhaust. I cant remember but he said it has either an evo 3 16g or a 14b turbo. The guy said that hes rebuilt 5 dms cars and hasnt spent as much time on any other cars, as he has on this car, The only thing it needs to be finished is hooking up radiator turbo lines, ecu harness to the sensors and intercooler piping. thats it. The guy is moving and has to sell three of his cars asap.. sorry about the long post. Thanks

Better to get a stock one and upgrade it yourself so you know someone else didnt screw it up. The 14b only came on 1G's so either way the turbo has been swapped out. I would hope he knows what it is if hes the same guy checking bearing tolerances in the thousandths.

make sure everythings clean with it
he might really be selling it because theres a bigger problem lurking behind it

I apologize, I was in a hurry!!!! The guy said he got the 6 bolt head because it has bigger exhaust ports or something like that, I dont remember exactly why. I'm pretty positive he said it was a 14b turbo, but he is moving and has no way to take the car with him so thats why he has to sell it. Does anyone have a good question I should ask about the car and what should I look for when I check it out??? Thanks

Things to do or check for would be: compression test, turbo shaft play, any leaks, smoke, rust and ask for RECEIPTS..!!! Dont forget when you test drive it, drive the hell out of it to see how the car responds...

The thing is, is it isn't finished,,,, so I cant drive or hear it!!!!! The car was the guys winter project and now he has to move so he cant finish the car.. Im trading the dirtbike plus a little bit of cash for the car.. The guy said all that needs to be done to finish the car, is install the turbo and radiator turbo lines and the ecu wires to the sensors and intercooler and piping.

If you are new to DSM's I'd say pass. I had the same situation where the guy said all it needed was the clutch, clutch master, and clutch line. 2 years later and over a grand in parts... there it sits in my garage still not done. People will tell you whatever you want to hear when they are in a jam to get rid of something.

Yeah I guess you're right,,,,, but do you think there would be anyway to check to see if it might have potential? Couldn't the engine turn over without any of that stuff installed, like the turbo and ecu wires??? I know when i blew my ecu fuse, my eclipse still turned over, but wouldnt start!!!! Thanks

obd2 swapped throttle body from second gen..... Uh the 2nd gen is OBD2. Sounds like this guy is trying to shaft you man. I wouldnt touch it till i see it run.

I would tell him to finish putting it together. If it's just the oil/water feed lines and the ecu he should be able to put it back together in a hour or two unless he doesnt know what the #### is going on.

Just pass on it, dont let your excitement sway you... Trust me the last thing you want is a shell w/ a motor that needs tons of work or maybe even a blown motor... The risk of doing the trade is not worth it AT ALL...

There are many other great deals to take advantage, keep searching...

Here's the deal. Your bike is worth around $1500 on the high side and a car that won't run is worth...? As little as possible especially since he doesn't even know what's wrong with it.
I would rather have a galled butt hole and two doses of the clap, at least I can get rid of that. I would stay away.

He has a little s10 pickup he can put the bike in the back of that, But yeah I think I am going to listen to you guys!! I just put about 1500 dollars in the bike not including the extras! Thanks!!!
