Are these ebay parts acceptable? (strut bars/race harnesses)

I'm looking at picking up a set of strut bars and 4 point harnesses for my 1g and I was wondering is getting the egay version of these would be alright? The harnesses seem like something that would be alright, but the egay strut bars are mostly what I had in question.

Don't waste your money on cheap ebay strut bars. I could bend them with one hand. They are only good for looks. Get quality ones like DC sports. I know they make them for 2g, don't know about 1g.

That's what I was thinking. I was going to go with megan or DC for struts.
What about harnesses?

I have ebay strut bars on my 2g and they do suck. My friend has the Megan ones on his 2g and they are not much better than the ebay ones. They are flimsy and flex just as much as the ebay ones on my car. If you want a strut bar that actually serves a purpose DC sports is the only way to go. As far as the harness goes, they get to be annoying on a dd. Also, if you plan on using them for race events make sure to get ones that are certified.

If you plan on doing events and want to be sure you're covered make sure they are certified or if out of certification in visibly good condition AND have anti-sub belts.

If you want harnesses just for running around the street the Schroth Rallye 4 ASM harness is pretty nice with somewhat easily adjustable straps and a nice push putting latch similar to stock (but on your lap/stomach). Probably about the easiest in and out you'll get with any harness. Installs pretty easily into stock mounting locations. I'm using one for puttering around town and have a Schroth Hybrid II for the track. NASA isn't allowing 4-points anymore I've read and I'm betting SCCA won't for much longer.

Unless you're going to spend near $100 or more on a single bar, eBay strut bars are perfectly fine. Many strut bars share the poor design and weak mounting exhibited by the eBay varieties, therefore, it's not a poor choice to employ eBay bars over some other sub $100 competitor.

I paid under $20 shipped for both my eBay front and rear bars. Sure as hell beats paying 5x as much for the same crap or even more for a device that has not even been proven to be effective on a DSM anyhow. Honestly, strut bars are goddamned near useless on these cars. Got money? Spend it. Don't got money? Well that's why we're even talking about eBay.

No one can bend them by hand, despite what some people might like to tell you. Surely I don't have to post up my lifting stats or get pictures of my buddy Braullio, former Mr. California, giving it "the treatment" to back up that statement.

For daily driving their fine. Not a big deal at all. The problem is where are you going to tie them down on a dd with no cage.

I got the pair; (front and back) for 30 dollars free shipping, and they help a boat load. They havn't bent on me and I'm glad I got them. But I guess it you want to waste your money on $150+ on a single bar, then have fun!

I am however getting a cage, harness's and seats from ebay. Total it comes out to about $500. It says the cage meets or exceeds NHRA reqeirements. So Thats what I'm getting.

If you want to run a harness, ebay does sell a bar that goes behind the front seats to connect the harness without a rollcage.

Ive also seen them bolted down in the rear seat belt mounts. Ive seen it done but i know theres mixed opinions on that. The angle is correct for the harnesses to work properly but may not pass tech and you'd lose your back seats basically.

The bars are everything they're supposed to be. Fitment is fine but be cautious of your pos. battery terminal.

You do not want to attach any harness to the bar he's speaking about. At best you can use it to guide your harnesses from the seat so the angle is sufficiently low to prevent spinal compression, and then mount to stock seat belt locations. They aren't likely to be strong enough to completely support the belt without some bending in an impact, and any deformation results in a loose belt, which can lead to you sliding out of the harness and/or smacking into something.
