Apex'i Dunk Exhaust real or fake?

Hey guys, so my situation is that I came across a great deal from a guy who's selling me an Apex'i dunk exhaust and Apex'i downpipe all for $250. Thing is, I can't tell whether it's real or fake. I was very excited about it first but later got suspicious all because of the piping. I showed my bro and even he finds it suspicious that there are no mandrel bends but only welds from what we see. I got some pictures so hopefully someone on here can help me out. This is a sweet deal that I would hate to pass up as I've heard many great things about these exhausts and the fact that they don't make them anymore, makes it all the more tempting. I would hate to get ripped off though. Oh and some additional info: the guy said that the exhaust has a brand new O2 sensor as well if this means anything. Well from my google search it doesn't look like it's a legit dunk system. I can't say for sure though as I've never had or seen a real system but the muffler should say dunk on it and the bends aren't mandrel as you said. The muffler looks like it's the same shape though.

I would expect the muffler to have a apexi tag on it if it's real. I know my old setup did and all my pipes are mandrel and flanged the only welds are were the piping goes into the muffler.

And from the looks of how the pipe is cut/welded, I don't see a problem with it being a restriction. I have a friend with a Dunk exhaust and I think it sounds great, with a deep rumble to it.

the can is real, the piping is home made/shop, the dp looks to be Ebay, sorry on the luck bro. found some what of the same deal, guy said it was megan 3" catback, turned out to be ebay, still bought it cause of the sweet price, plus the guy is a good gut, only part that was truly megan was the dp but he modded it to be v-band so i couldnt use it.

Thanks for all the input guys I really appreciate it. I noticed the writing on the muffler also the only problem was the piping. This guy is a good guy also. I actually bought the car from him . He had the same thing in his car which is what I was told. Should I still go on with the deal or f*** it?

It seems like a good deal if you need an exhaust it would cost more than that anywhere you go even for an ebay one plus you get an o2 sensor

Its a decent deal the o2 alone runs around $150 bucks new depending on where you get it. So that would be like like paying $100 bucks for the exhaust. Good luck

Why is this exhaust bad? A full 3inch turbo back exhaust with pretty much all straight pipe. Who the hell cares. For 250 thats a deal.

Because Apex'i generally only uses a SS muffler and not piping.

I have the same thing on mine, just bent not welded, id buy it. you would be crazy not to for 250, the 3" flange, muffler and flex pipe is worth more then that.

If I remember correctly apexi made two diff dunks. One with a 4.5" tip which will say dunk on it. And a 5" tip that just says apexi. I have own both of them. Piping might not be the one it originally came with, but muffler should be good.

Okay so I think I'm gonna get it since most of you are saying it's still a dang good deal. Is there anyway I could fix/replace the piping later on? As in get one with mandrel bends?

As long as it fits that piping is fine. Just make sure it is not leaking around the welds or flanges. You should be good to go

I agree with richard33 as long as its not leaking your good. You could always change the piping later, but it would probably not make that much of a difference because this one does not look to restrictive at all.

Just check the welds, make sure no leaks, and yes you can pay for new pipe and get someone to do the mandrel bends bends for you but, i think you would be spending money for nothing it looks fine. Unless it bugs you that much .

Thanks guys well it's good to know that the piping on this system doesn't really have any problems besides the fact that it's not part of the original. The only reason it bugged me was because I thought maybe it would negatively affect performance. Since all of you haven't mentioned anything like that though, well then I'm good. This is a relief really . I consider myself pretty dang lucky to get this deal. Anyways, it's not like people would be checking my car out from under anyway haha. I'll be sure to check for leaking though.

I went on ebay and there where 3 dunk for sale. 2 were used and 1 brand new never used or bolted on but it was just the muffler only. The guy had a buy-it-now price set to $190 but i made an offer for $120 and he accepted it. Lucky me haha

Dude that's awesome congrats on the find! And I wouldn't know as of right now . I've been extremely busy and trying to make money cause I keep running into more problems so I'm trying to get all the maintenance done first now that I'm making money. Also, since I have a EVO3B16G, I realized that I have to do a lot of porting to actually get the full effect of the exhaust and eliminate boost creep problems =/. So now I'm just waiting until this semester is over at school so I can get on the porting. Just hope I have another car to drive because of the downtime on my car. Did you get the one with the 4 inch tip or the 5 inch tip?

Apexi made 2 different dunks. I've got the one with the 5 inch tip that says apexi on it. I'm looking for the 4.5 inch tip that says dunk though. I know it's going to be really hard to find especially a brand new one. Good luck in school man.

Yups i got the same one. The guy dloiphone who is in this forum that explained that apexi made 2 different dunks, messaged me and said the dunk with the 5 inch tip is louder and less restrictive. So i guess it's a good thing that we both got it huh? Reply back or message me the day you install it.
