Hi guys, I was digging around in my garage and found this old chip that I acquired for free a while ago from a friend that gave up on DSMs. I was wondering if there was any way to see if it was fake? real? what kind?

78/60/AWD KNOCK
750cc MAFT DUAL

This is all it says. From what I can tell it means 7800 rev limit, 6000 no lift to shift, for awd, and burnt for 750cc inj. and GM MAF and translator. As far as authenticity, I just have no idea how to tell. On the back it says

TAIWAN
av543561
p906

Any input would be a lot of help and greatly appreciated. THANKS!!

It sounds like one of my chips, but unless you happen to have 750's and a MAFT it won't do you much good. Is it a 1G or a 2G?

I don't have the MAF and MAFT but i was planning on going that route. I do have the 750cc inj. though! I got lucky on that one! i'll post up pics soon when i get home.

Okay, here's the crappy phone pic. If you can't read it, again it says:

78/60/AWD KNOCK
750cc MAFT DUAL

Well, that burned circle in the middle means that someone plugged it into the ECU backwards. :(
Chances are that I replaced it, and they never sent back the bad chip. It may or may not work. Its amazing how many of them survive being plugged in backwards.
But, the fact that it has 28 pins, and it says "dual", means it has to be a 1G chip, not 2G. For the 2G dual image I have to go to a larger 32-pin 1 Meg Flash chip.

You can't tune an EPROM chip. The values are permanently burned into it for whatever injectors, MAS, and octane it was mapped for. You can read it with any EPROM burner/reader.
