I have a Punishment Racing o2 housing (mild steel) on my holset BEP housing... I think that its angled incorrectly because it wont bolt up without a pretty large gap. I asked the guys at PR and they said its flanged like a stock o2 housing, but its clearly not the case!

Any ideas? I was thinking of buying a few flanges to take up the added space, but that seems real halfass... and I really dont want to cut and weld. Did I miss something here? Did PR lie to me? :-O

Well contact pr again, and show them pics of your set up, all of it, or look into something on your end, it seems so close, again contact pr tommorrow, and ask them since its there product. Then they can tell you whats going on. Phone call, they have good customer service.

That looks like its the same angle that my PR o2 housing makes to the downpipe and I'm also running an Apex'i. Have you tried pushing a bolt through there, or will it not line up at all?

:dsm:

Our o2 housings have the same angles as the factory o2 housings we check our fixtures weekly to ensure they stay in spec.

It looks like you have a fairly short bolt on the one side that is pulling that side up. I would recommend using longer bolts and drawing them up evenly. Make sure if the downpipe is bolted up to your catback that you have something supporting the weight as that will also pull it down to one side.

If you have any other questions shoot us an email [email protected] and we will be more than happy to help clear up the issue.

There is one bolt on that one side, but the other side is really stiff and isnt too much play to allow the other side to swing up to the flange. Its like trying to line up these shapes //|| meaning the downpipe would have to twist a lot for it to work. The DP is connected to the rest of the catback already, and the whole thing is on the hangers already: should I take it off the hangers and bolt the DP up first?

Yes I would take off the hangers and if necessary unbolt the catback. They can put quite a bit of tension on the downpipe making it difficult to get everything lined up properly.

I agree, bolt up the o2 side of the downpipe first and then the exhaust side. The hangars should be the last thing that you connect. This is how I have always done it.

What brand catback are you running? Running different brand downpipes with different brand catbacks can make alignment issues because the flanges are welded in different places.

I have a PR O2 housing and have to take off the CB to get the DP to line up decently. I'm less than thrilled with it compared to stock, but I think it boils down to the stock O2 housing having studs, where at the PR (and nearly every other aftermarket O2) requires 3 hands - one for the DP, one for a bolt, and one for a nut. The stock version having studs are much easier to work work IMO.

Ok, will do guys. And to answer the question above, its an apexi n1 downpipe and catback -- complete turbo back system.

I wont be around the car until monday/tuesday, so Ill post pics after the install is complete! Thanks for the info guys.

It worked!!! I tried to do it still bolted up, but off the hangers... Didn't work. Def had to take it off the catback then rebolt it all. It was a hastle, but everything is super snug! Thanks guys!

SN: I DID have to cut off that extra flange at the tip of the downpipe which I think is for the stock o2 sensor wire? Just an fyi.
