Well I am swapping in a 6 bolt block in a week or so, should be getting shipped to me tomorrow. I just got an oem rebuild, 1g big rods and 2g pistons. Going to use my stock 2g head with it. I am putting in 6 bolt arp head studs, mls headgasket, the block is coming with new oil pump, water pump, timing belt and balance shafts removed. I bought a 6 bolt oil pan and a black top CAS.
I also just bought an evo3 16g turbo, 650 cc injectors, a 190 walbro, rewire kit, prothane motor mounts, 6 bolt flywheel, ecu+ tuning software, a palm pilot to tune and log.

I am having my turbo ported out, I also bought a ported evo3 exhaust manifold. I am going to replace all the gaskets I can, like the intake and exhaust, turbo etc.
I am also going to either get a 2g install kit or just piece it together.
I would have liked to build the head up as well, but money wont allow at the time. I am hopefully going to have enough money left over to get a xs power fmic kit.
Down the road I am also going to rebuild my tranny with an lsd but again already spending like 4 grand on stuff so gotta call it a day at some point for now. I already have an ACT 2100 clutch in, and 3 inch catback, will be putting my downpipe on shortly.
I also have a mbc and a boost gauge of course, intake, 1g bov spark plugs and wires.

Sorry for the long post here just trying to make sure I am not forgetting something crucial. And would really like to not have to stop and wait on some parts to arrive.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks a lot.
I see that I need to get a lower timing belt cover, anyone where I can easily find one? Oh and also do i need the thermostat housing and lower radiator hose and 1g water pipe? Are they necessary?

Oh and also this is only a daily driver. No track time here, for now at least, but don't want to abuse it and I need it to last!!!
Goal is to have around 300whp.

Sup Ryan,

wow, so you're going through with the swap..
From all the research I did about 6 bolt swaps, and talking to my buddy that has done a few of them, I would suggest you buy the CAS conversion harness from magnus or RRE. This will make it much easier, and you'll be sure it'll work.

Also, for the Random Misfire CEL that you'll most likely have, It'll be good to upgrade to DSMLINK, DSMCHIPS.com's stage 3 chip/eprom ecu combos for 350.00, or do the "Potentiometer" mod written in the Magnus 1G in 2G writeup. Save yourself the headache and sell your ecu+ tuning software and grab dsmlink, or Jeff's dsmchips w/ the eprom ecu for only 350.00 shipped. Incredible base tune, Misfire MIL code, and all kinds of other things that'll make you love your car!
WOW! so ALL THIS WORK for a 300whp goal? That's my goal, and I'm currently making 261whp on 19psi pump gas and 117k miles on my 7 bolt.. also with pretty much the same bolt ons as you...

I bought a 95 GST with a 6 bolt swap already done JUST to swap the stuff into my blue 97 GST because I wanted so badly to make 300whp RELIABLY, I ended up thinking.. "I NEED TO STOP FIXING THINGS THAT AREN'T BROKE"... LOL.. so when my car does need a rebuild, I'm just gonna re-ring the pistons, hone cylinders and change out the rod bearings.. I'm stuck with the other car now which I'm trying to sell.

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SWAP MAN!! DO YOU HAVE EMISSIONS TESTING IN NY?

take care,
Mark

Hey yeah my car has a lot of miles now and I figured while I had the money to do the 6 bolt swap rather than wait until my engine had problems and I was broke. I think I will get that harness for the CAS. Should make it easier.
As for the random misfire cel from the 6 bolt swap, ecu+ can do the exact same thing as dsmlink. The software seems to be able to do everything dsmlink can do and I don't need to get an eprom ecu or anything. Also retains info when the battery is disconnected since it has a head unit to put in the din. After some research it really seems to be what i need.
As for the pretty low goal of 300whp, I just really want a good reliable setup. I don't especially feel like throwing a lot of money into my 7 bolt with the mileage it has. Even though most likely it should be good, it already has over 152k on it, and I want a whole new turbo setup and all so figured I should just do it all.
I'm sure eventually I will wind up wanting a little more hp, as it seems to never end! But believe me after i spent like the 1500 on my 6 bolt block, it went through my head a bunch of times of how i could have just bought my whole new turbo setup for my 7 bolt. And now I am put another 3 grand into parts an software etc...
There is a visual inspection here in N.Y. but they don't seem to actually test the emissions which is good. Just got my car inspected a little while and they hardly checked anything. But they did put it on a lift to check the cat unfortunately. Might just get a downpipe that I can bolt up a test pipe or cat and just switch it for inspection every year.
