anyone try the garrett GT2871R yet???

I was wanting to know if anyone has tried out the garret GT2871R yet? They say its supposed to spool pretty quick and show some good numbers, but i cant seem to find anyone that has one. Does anyone know where i could find a compressor map for this model? I looked at the Garrett website and they dont have one yet (so more than likely nobody else does either), but i just figured id ask anyways.

never heard of it,.... but my guess is its a t3 exhaust turbine, which means the chances of someone getting it are even less until someone like fp or pte makes a turbine housing (aka slaps an exsistant one on) for that turbo... and since it sounds like its a smaller turbo than the g30r and those are sold with dsm turbine housings, and since its new, it probably wont be practical (price wise or performance wise) to get this turbo, but this is all based on speculations,

my point is i doubt anyone has this turbo or is thinking about getting one any time soon...

my friend stock sr20 with just bolt on supporting mods and this turbo made 375 @ 23 psi on C16

you can try going to turbocalculators.com I think they have the compressor maps for that one.

the gt28 series is to the 240sx market what the 16g is for us. You figure you are paying over a grand for a turbo that will do numbers that the 16g has been doing for 10 years. I don't recommend it for a DSM. Not worth it.

It's a ball bearing turbo, so it'll spool slightly quicker. As stated above, not many people are running them in the DSM world since 16Gs and such are so much cheaper and are direct bolt-ons. Not to mention for $1099, you can get a bullseye GT30R bolt-on hybrid. The "bigT28" upgrade for 2Gs is basically a GT2871R, I believe.

the big28 is smaller by a lot. The 2871 uses a 71mm compressor wheel. The turbine is also larger. Even with the ball bearing the 2871 spools slower on the SR20 than the EVOIII on the 4g63. It is a good turbo but with the availability and price of the evoiii16g it makes it near obsolete.
