well i cannot get my 92 tsi running and i have been doing test after test and replacing parts left and right and im officially out of money for this thing :banghead:...... so im loooking for someone who is near harpers ferry / martinsburg WV area who would come down and help me ill pay you for your time as soon as i get my paycheck thats a promise for sure cause i have been working on this thing 10 hours a day for 2 weeks and i need to get mobile so i can get my ass back into work! LOL so if you are interested shoot me a pm or just post and ill get in touch with you ASAP! :thumb:

dont hate on my IC piping it will be correct before i run it on the road also if you notice the guy ran red hosing for the boost controller and for the coolant and for the windshield fluid LOL its a mess but im not cleaning it up until i get it to start LOL

what a mess.

1. there are no hose clamps on the intake pipe! you're using tape to try to make a seal from a hard pipe to the maf, wow.
2. plug wires are not held down by anything, they will get eaten by the cam gears. they also look like a generic brand.
3. what is that lying on the exhaust manifold?
4. there is no air filter, maf might be dirty.

why wait to make things neat and clean before you get it on the road. everything that is out of order is most likely why it won't start.

supreme - agreed but it cam with the car so imma have to deal with it for now... i mean i did trade a wrecked jeep for what you are seeing in the photos

Ram-

1) i have the clamps just not on in these photos

2) yeah it didnt come with the dam plug cover and they are duralast plug wires 7mm LOL

3) im not sure what that is to be honest... its just laying there but the harness leads to the fan

4) yeah it didnt come with the rest of the can for the MAF plus the pipe he ran wont even allow the filter to sit on it so i have to cut it down to fit or use some left over IC piping i have to reroute it

**** now people lets stay on topic here i know its a ugly POS mess but i will have it all cleaned up when she gets running i promise LOL

(((((this is the random thing just chilling on my exhaust manifold looks like some sort of sensor maybe for heat? it leads back to the fan harnes)))))

GSX -

1) the BOV is on the bottom of the pipe (thought the same thing when i first looked)
2) i have pulled the plugs one by one and checked for spark and it does
3) i didnt do a noid test i checked for 12v's and it passed then i pulled the fuel rail out and plugged one injector in at a time to see if they sprayed and they did

that dangling thing is usually attached to the a/c fan i believe, which is chopped apart to deal with the wastegate.

ram-

ok ill mount it up and leave it be then, think its possible that my MAF is bad or so dirty its not pulling enough air in for combustion? any way to test the MAF sensor?

i don't think the maf comes into play for starting, the ecu just uses a set amount of fuel based on coolant and ambient temps.

ram -

very true... thats one other thing i have not checked, the coolant sensor maybe its bad and is tripping my ECU to think im overheating or just not sending a signal... any way to test that without swapping it out? see this is my problem i have no way to swap out parts i only have homemade test and a nice voltmeter LOL

ALSO

the guy that i got this from said he had it bored .20 over new pistons and what not in the block with a head thats built as well so between that and a walbbro 255 / forced performance green turbo and 450cc injectors with stock cams / ECU / MAF could it just be so out of tune that it wont start?

a 255 on a 1g is not recommended without an afpr. it will overrun the stock one. download a factory manual, it will tell you all you need.

ram-

yeah it seems a bit excessive for this build but it came with it installed...

by the way thanks for all the input RAMSACK and the rest of you guys for sure! ill be a supporting member once i get here running thats for dam sure LOL i love these kind of forums LOL :hellyeah:

I'm gonna agree with the compression check and there being low to no compression. One thing I know you said you can't swap parts, but have you removed the ECU cover and check for bad caps and leakage on your board. just picked up a 91 talon and the ECU in it was non-turbo, but would start the car. Guy gave me another turbo ECU for it, once i plugged the turbo ECU in it would turn over but no fire. Took the top off and the caps had leaked on the board. Just a thought.
D

tally - yeah im waiting on my ride to go get it but yeah im not going to buy another part until i test the compression thats for sure

ramsack - when you let it crank over and over its seems to get slower so im not sure if thats because its slowly building pressure or just the battery slowly losing amps (the battery is brand new but it has experienced some serious cranking and what not with only a little charge from my wall charger )

Tuner - i did check the ECU it has some spots that look messy but its not all that bad ill post a picture of it and a video of it cranking over in a few minutes

I'm sorry but that sounds like you have no compression. I would stongly advise getting a compression tester verifying my hypothesis and then decide where to go from there. If it is indeed 0 compression or very low, sorry you go fu(ked.

yeah thats what im thinking i have a tester coming around 6pm so i will then know if im screwed or not but im pretty sure i am....... dam it

If you have spark, and you know fuel squirts out of the injectors...Then its.

A. Compression...Rings, valves bent, etc.
B. Timing............Cams are supposed to line up at TDC, along with crank gear timing mark.
C. MAF is bad or needs to be cleaned.

wow dude it looks like you have none to low compression.... it seems like if your sparkplugs were off..!!!! if your lucky you have bent valves and can just replace the head... but if its your rings then your f##ked... sorry for the word but mine doesnt sound close to that.... best of luck

also does you ecu smell like burnt... if so then theres your problem...

i just played the video at work. the computer has an internal speaker so i couldn't hear it that well, but it sounds like you have at least some compression. i would try to see if there is a local person that could lend you a known good ecu to test out.

honestly i think i have some bent valves so im sure i have some compression but yeah its not much

i am on the search at the moment for a ECU may have one but not im not sure yet

the firing order was out actually but not anymore good call thoe

about the CAS... if its 180 would you just pull it off and flip the key 180 and reinstall it? if so i did do that
