well i cannot get my 92 tsi running and i have been doing test after test and replacing parts left and right and im officially out of money for this thing ...... so im loooking for someone who is near harpers ferry / martinsburg WV area who would come down and help me ill pay you for your time as soon as i get my paycheck thats a promise for sure cause i have been working on this thing 10 hours a day for 2 weeks and i need to get mobile so i can get my ass back into work! so if you are interested shoot me a pm or just post and ill get in touch with you ASAP!

the lash adjusters appear to be collapsing because they don't have any good oil pressure going to them.

they need oil pressure to adjust lash. they are probably dry.

hmmm well he has it setup with a oil tap from the head to the turbo and the 2 stock oil lines which run from around the oil filter arent even in use does this sound right? to me it sounds horribly wrong... any way to test for oil pressure without it running or in the condition my head is in

just see if oil comes out in the head while cranking.

shouldnt my camshaft lobes sit/point on the same direction both intake and exhaust side?

since the exhaust side rockers and everything seem to be good is it possible to just trash the intake side? if so whats a quick way to see if maybe the intake cam/camshaft is in wrong?

i have alot of reading ahead of me

im begining to think this guy rebuilt everything and just slammed it all together and went WOT and just tore some $hit up

your cams are in correctly, i can tell from a picture on page 1.

ok ill check for oil coming into the head and go from there

see when i got the car it was out of time so maybe it was only the intake cam out and ill get lucky with it only needing 8 valves but im wondering since the camshaft isnt even touching the rockers or anything if the pistons were to come into contact with the valves wouldnt they just be knocked back up in the head since there is nothing holding them back? keep in mind this car has only been cranked over never ran "supposely" since everything was put back together...

The head looks pretty clean, the retainers appear to still be new, as well as the valve springs. Maybe the lifters were never bled before installation. The only way to really find out if you bent the valves is to pull the head.

Sorry to say it most likely is bend valves, a rocker off and the journals of the cams not even touching?! looks exactly like mine did when i opened it up and it had bent valves on every cylinder.

yeah im going to pull the head tomorrow and hope for the best but from what i have read valves arent that big of a deal really plus it seems like as long as the pistons didnt mushroom i can just dremel the dips to rid of hot spots on the pistons, tedious but not impossible...


im kind of excited to be honest i have not torn a engine down since my integra but also curious to see if the pistons are new like he said but thankfully the car came with tons of extra parts including a full out gasket set... ill keep this thread going with my journey to getting this car running cause there is a TON of VERY useful ideas and solutions by the way.

1995gsx - funny you suggest a jeep i wrecked mine into a deer at 80 mph and traded it for this tsi but they are some tanks thats for sure hit 2 deer / sheriff / and a small tree falling from the woods

raymos - i have the stock regulator plus i have zero compression so i doubt it could be from that but hellifino....

no updates yet ill be pulling the head off tomorrow as far as i know but if so ill have pictures and a full update for sure
