another speedometer problem... please help

i know there are other threads. heres my problem. the speedometer on my 1998 Eagle Talon ESi 2.0 dohc 420a 5-speed does not work and the odometer works slowly, so i replaced the vehicle speed sensor. and still the speedometer does not work and odometer works slowly??? what else could it be? all other guages work, and there is no cables since it is a 1998, wires look good....:confused: :confused:

Was it like that when you bought the car? If so then someone could have taken the bezel out and messed with it and broke something. If not then maybe there is dirt in there and it is clogging things up. I had a problem with my odometer sticking so I took the cluster out of my car took some compressed air. Like you get to clean you comeputer. After that it worked fine
 
yeah thats what im thinking, i guess my next try will be getting a new cluster, where can i find them cheap?
 
Hey! I'm having some of the same trouble with my speedometer. I know what the problem is, but can't seem to find the part. Its a little plastic gear that goes on the speed sensor, i don't know what the actual name for it is and therefor cant find it! The gear i had before i changed the sensor broke, can someone please help me!!!!:cry::banghead:

BTW I have a 1998 Eagle Talon 5-speed base.
