Intake manifold problem.....please help

I looked at my stock intake and my new one to compare and discovered a couple of problems. I dont see a place on my new manifold for my m.a.p. sensor and I do not see a place for my EGR tube. I went online and looked at the website she ordered it from (EBAY) and it doesnt ask anything about the EGR tube or m.a.p sensor when ordering. I'm puzzled. Did I get the right manifold? Do I just bypass the tube and sensor? Do I not need them? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Your "EGR" valve is not needed, Although without it, I can't be sure if your car will have problems passing imissions, Or not. Just trace the vac hose that would connect to it, Back to it's starting point and cap it off.

If your intake manifold has a map sensor, They might expect you to just run a vac line from one of the supplied vaccume ports, And connect the other end of the vac line to the nipple of the map sensor tip, Which more then likly will be a failed attempt, And it'll be too short, And just keep falling off. They do sell ''map sensor'' flanges with a longer vac fitting on the other end, Allowing you to do what I had just listed above though. I am not sure if you have the same map sensor as a 2g turbo car, But if you did, I know a few companys' sell the flange (JMfabrications), To be more specific.

I looked over the linked thread and didn't find anything to do with the MAP sensor.

You will have to drill out some holes on the end of the mani (stock location area) to bolt the map on. I did it with mine when I switched it to the daily in preparation of turboing it. Tapped a couple of holes for the bolts to hold it on and drilled out a hole large enough for the sensor part to fit through. I made it pretty tight to the seal and ended up using RTV to be sure. Worked great.

ok so i got how to modify the map sensor if i use it but what about the tube can i just block it off? will the car run badly?engine light be on?

oh and its not the "valve" im talking about not connecting it's the tube that hooks to the back of the intake

The valve he's referring to is the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve that shoves exhaust gas back into your intake for emmissions and to help the car warm up to Normal Operating Temp. The tube that runs to the Valve will need blocked off BEFORE the EGR on the head to keep the CEL from coming on. There is a block off kit sold here. EGR Block Off Kit Eclipse Talon 420a - CI Motorsports You don't need them though, as the smaller one will be useless to you since there's not even a spot for it on your new intake, and unless you want to toss the whole EGR assembly(which will throw a CEL), you can use a doubled-up coke can cut-out of the Larger EGR gasket and sandwich it inbetween your EGR valve and your head. Or if you're feeling froggy, you can take the larger EGR gasket to your local machine shoppe and have them cut you one out of a piece of 1/4" thick stock seet plate. Or do it yourself with a dremel....whichever route you choose, make sure to use a gasket for a good seal. Hope this helps.


EDIT:I'd leave the tube hooked up and just use the coke can method to block off your EGR if you want to pass a visual. I doubt the Aftermarket intake will pass as it is though....

i currently have mine blocked off on my car and the valve is still hooked up but it is blocked off as well imbetween the valve and the block and yes it will still cause your check ingine light to be on. And yes you wont be able to pass emitions with it throwing a egr code, I'm not worried about it because i dont have to do emissions testing on my car, ( it has to do with where i live ) but on the other hand your car wont run any differant, all it does is allow hot exhaust gasses to be resurculated to help heat the combustion when youre car is cold upon first start up, there where some tricks a guy figured out how to buy pass the heat tube and still have the valve function normally so your check ingine light is out and it will not throw a code i will post the link to the thread if i can find it

I's easy. Fom the underside of the EGR valve drill a 1/16'' hole directly perpendicular into the middle hole where the exhaust travels through the valve. Dill the hole as if it were a notch into the face of the mating surface.
