My bad, 6AN is 0.56, not 56.0 Lol.
I have no personal experiences with big AN, the biggest I have seen in person is 10AN.

Measure the I/D of the hose, AN is always x over 16. If it was 6an it would be 6/16' or 3/8". Hope that helps.

False. AN is based off the OD size of pipes. Hose for AN is not sized to specific sizes, they are just sized to mate with that same brand of AN fitting. It is based in 16ths.

Partially correct. An is based off Tube OD which is VERY close to hose ID. IE, -4 being 4/16 and actual -4 ID being a bit larger than 3/16. As size increases this difference becomes even less negligible. Anymore, nearly all AN fittings are compatible with any manufacturers hose.

In the 6 years that I've been working with AN hose I've never had a compatibility problem with any manufacturer's fittings to another manufacturer's hose. I've worked with countless brands as well and never had a leak due to a mismatch.

Edit: this would not include someone trying to use a teflon fitting on a std. rubber lined steel braid or pro classic hose. This is only for a standard rubber core hose to a rubber core hose fittings (the majority of what's on the market.)
