Here is a document straight from the US military that shows the dimension of the different sizes in the AN standard. it is a very old, early-cold-war looking document, so it isn't the clearest, so it's somewhat hard to read. I'm working on copying it over to an XLS file. I already have the data entered into XLS, but I need a good drawing to base off of. This may be best moved to a FAQ section.

Just easy to remember that it is 16th's. So -8 is .50 or 1/2". Tres..

uh that's not the point of that document. that is just the pipe size which is OD of the pipe that the flare fitting is for. that document gives full dimensions.
