Im just doing this to recap and be assured I have everything to run a small16g safely and efficiently.

Currently On the Car:
Apexi N1 2.25"-2.5" DP (After install im switching to a 3")
Greddy Evo2 3" Exhaust (From DP)
Greddy Type S BoV
Apexi FMIC with 2.25" Piping
K&N FIPK
Magnecore 8.5mm Spark Plug Wires
Wideband o2 w/ DSMLINK V3 Full

What I have Waiting:
Small 16g ( Going to Rebuild)
Walboro 255lph HP
FIC 850 CC injectors
Fuel Lab AFPR
MHI MLS HG
Arp Head Studs
MBC

Ive done all my timing belt, water pump, starter, as well as little bits of maintenece already.

Does this entire setup seem decent enough to run a 16g both efficiently and safely?

Also I have a Felpro OEM replacement Timing belt , Yea im an idiot but I had it replaced before I started actually working on my car. Will the timing belt withstand the pull and what not? Im a bit paranoid about the teeth being ripped off. Also does this happen when launching or when your simply pushing your car?

Make sure you have a good boost controller. Don't mess with a junk electronic one either. Mbc is what you want. I seen stock 6bolts do well with big 16g turbos. Just don't get Chinese Turbo. Go get a heavy duty one from forcedperformance, com. Do you have a precise. Boost gauge

I saw you have a ported o2 housing... How much do u plan on boosting? I would check into getting an external wastegate to eliminate boost creep and for boost to hold better

Uhh I believe 21 PSI is the majority of boost people run on small 16g's if im not mistaken. And I will look into that because I plan on getting another 2g Manifold and having that ported as well for better air flow. Im just getting a bit tight on cash worst case scenario is I just run the turbo at like 17-18 PSI until I get everything to have it run perfect. I honestly don't mind waiting I would rather be slower and safe than faster and blow the shit out of my engine

Why a good boost controller all it is a spring and a ball. Wont they all work the same ? and I am running a prosport Boost gauge. When its off it sits a bit lower than 0 but when you boost its pretty accurate.

I'd say you're ready. As long as maintenance is up to date.

MBCs do make a difference. For example, my TurboXS mbc would allow my car to spike to 25 psi on my T25 when I had it set to 17 psi. It did this randomly when it was cold outside. When I upgraded to my 16g I tried to turn up the boost and it was seized. Total garbage!

I then got a Hallman Pro RX and never had an issue. And it looks 100x better and is easier to adjust.

Like you said u want a safe car so definitely a good boost controller is important u don't want to be thinking your boosting 21 and then step on it and have it spike up and blowing ## engine... That goes for the wastegate too... They both help to eliminate that

Agreed. I had a couple no name boost controllers, even a so called regular "hallman mbc" as my previous owner claimed, it looked like one or it could have been crap. but tried many, and finally got a hallman pro. Been working great since, no more spiking, no creeping(ported the EVOIII) holds steady, couldn't be happier.

..and Yes! you re pretty much ready!

everything looks good. I dont see why you'd want to replace the headgasket. even the $30 felpro composite holds 30psi fine. no need for anything fancy.

Car has 155k miles on it and the compression is still at 165 through all the cylinders. I want to keep it up to date and safe thats 155k miles that its never been changed. More boost causes more chances for the head to lift , hence the head studs, or a hg to blow. I would rather do extra work and money to insure I dont blow my engine if I do im totally screwed.

Hmm so maybe I should just run the turbo with no MBC for now till I get a better one? or what?

Also thanks for all the advice to everyone

Running an AEM Truboost on a e316, ported e3 mani ported e3 o2 housing, stock fuel, arps, fel-pro headgasket (non mls). I am running 12psi daily and 16psi when I want to have a bit more fun. No issues. If I had the fuel mods I would try and max it out. Not worried about maxing it yet. Have some other stuff I would rather take care of.

Edit : Stock wastegate, no boost spikes what so ever even with a 3" turbo back. The AEM Boost Control Solenoid is a quality piece. Porting the o2 and collector helped as well. I ported my stuff myself with a dremel and 2-7$ still porting bits.
