im currently running an unported T28 at 15psi, and the supporting mods in my profile. O and my next mods are gunna be a downpipe and hi flow cat. my question is should i spend the $450 ill have left on the Front Mount from Dejontool...

http://dsm.dejonpowerhouse.com/

Or finish my intake and spend $150 on a hard pipe and $100 on the TB S pipe, maybe even a new O2 and complete the turbo back.

Can you put a FMIC on too soon is what im asking?

I say wait on the fmic and do the other stuff first. I believe there would be more of a hp gain from the other stuff. Also i dont think you can put a fmic on to soon, coooler air is just cooler air it dont hurt anything, in my opinion.

I agree, look into getting a supra smic for the mean time. I seen one on flea-bay earlier for cheap! ssshhhh!

I would get a fmic, it seems like a good next mod. It will gain a little more power feel till you can upgrade more fuel stuff and get a bigger turbo. Also hows the tranny? I got the same mods as you and im starting to get tranny issues. My next mods instead of the fmic i want are going to be shep tranny with centerforce clutch dual friction. Make sure your drivetrain is up to snuff before you start getting really big power.

If you got a good fresh tranny and a good clutch then yeah go for the fmic.

If not then get some drivetrain parts.

Thats my opinion.

I agree the stock fmic can actually handle a lot before it starts sweating. So do your other mods and then do the fmic. The supra fmic can also hold quite a bit.

Its stock side mount intercooler, smic, not stock fmic.

What other mods? most he has left is exhuast, i think an fmic would be fine for now it wont hurt anything, and would be less expensive then a full exhuast. And we dont have stock fmic, its stock smic.:thumb:

Either way you choose you wont hurt anything or loose hp, both will be ok weather its FMIC, or you finish your intake and exhaust. Let us know what you choose.

I personaly think the exhaust will give you more of an imediate hp gain, nothing like replacing that down pipe/cat!

thanks for all the great advice. i have $800 so the exhaust was getting the first half and i was debating on the FMIC or IC pipes. i think im going to just the front mount whie i have the money. if i wait, i might be waiting for a while. plus its looks wont be hidden under the hood the the hard pipes.

Ok its not like it would hurt. Goodluck.

( To think about out our smic is technically a fmic at least on 1st gens because it is getting air from the front and its not too far back, even then yea its on the side LOL)
But im just be a smartass anyways... I would go with exhaust, I think after putting a performance intake filter on the true next mod should be full exhaust because you cant put in what you cant get out.... Once you fully finish exhaust then get front mount, and some kits include licp and uicp.... Then go from there....

Actually cooler air means more oxygen density means more power plus less chance of knock. I know my stock smic generates lots of knock in the higher rpms with my 14b at 16psi.

what is your fuel set up, because that means its probably not getting enough fuel and a good tune.... And the mra4886. guy you quoted I think he ment exactly what you said....
:tease:

I have a 190lph and everything else stock.

I know he meant pretty much the same but he said "cooler air is just cooler air" which didn't make clear if it's really any better.

Your stock SMIC probably heat soaks very easily like mine did. My stock T-25 would heat soak my stock SMIC at 16 psi when the temps outside were high.

Im sorry if it confused anybody. Yes cooler air is better, so the fmic will not hurt anything. I appoligize again if it confuse anybody.

I just put my fmic on 3 days ago, and let me tell you, its worth it. I'm logging less knock, dont ahve to worry about heat soak (which is alwasy an issue in summer tim with side mounts), plus i can feel it pulling hard up top in 3rd and 4th, also just being able to look at a nice fmic and feel one warm side and the other side ice colkd is nice too, and th list goes on. PLUS i did the smic cold air intake mod this afternoon . I'm at work now, bu as soona s the sun goes down i am gonna go take some logs. I will have logs from before my fmic, with my fmicv, then with my cold air intake. I'll ###### make a thread with all my info in there later tonight or tomorrow.

you mean you dropped your filter down where the smic used to be... Some pictures of this would be nice if thats what your talking about.... Tell us if you logged any cooler, or less knock....

And yea the fmic is a great mod, but i hear they can also cause some turbo lag as opposed to a smic... But then the cooling effect of it also probably ofsets the lag by a gain in hp from colder air..... But I still think exhaust should be anyones first mods, because exhaust is where the powers at if your still running the stock exhaust system..

yeah ill post up some pics when i get home, like i said i jsut did the cold air intake today and havent had the chance to take any logs, and yes it is the mod you speak of. Im gonna do some logs tonight after the sun goes down tand the temp drops a little.

That one is ok i gess. I got mine from slowboy racing, it is huge and it keeps my moter nice and cool i payed about a nine hundred. save your money and get a good one the cheap one's bend easy.
