2G Alternator wiring

Was curious what this little post on the alternator is for. Is it to add a ground? I also have a red wire that I don’t know what it goes to that’s grounded on the frame. Don’t know if someone added a ground the the alternator or what. Any help I appreciate thanks

it could be used as a ground, but I think i recall seeing a wire clamp that gets secured to that stud and diverts the alternator wiring away from the drive belts and or hot radiator/exhaust.

Okay that makes sense thanks for the information. I might ground to it just for extra ground

As you can see by the aftermarket crimp connector it's not stock, so the question is where does the other end go to?

That bolt was for a bracket attached to the OEM wiring bundle to keep it out of the way just like Mitsubishikid said. You could use it as another ground.

On a side note, your 2g alternator won't work without your gauge cluster plugged in. Learned this the hard way haha.

Lol thanks for the info I just saw this now. Have to look into why my cluster isn’t working properly
