Air Intake Question

I'm looking for an air filter upgrade for my '96 GS-T spyder. Options I have heard of include a cone air filter setup, or a K&N replacement filter for the stock airbox. Does anyone know if the K&N drop-in filter work as well as a cone filter? IF a cone filter works better, does it matter what brand or setup?

you might want to try searching this site for useful information.

The cone filter will be MUCH better than a drop in replacment, because it gets rid of the entire air box.

Most people say a filter is just a filter and anyone works, but personally I'd never have anything other than K&N on my car. Its not like they are that expensive anyways, and they "last forever" as long as you clean them.

I went to a cone and a hard intake pipe so I could hear the turbo more. I imagined I felt a difference, but I'm sure it was just imagination.

I'm sure there's some cheaper cone style filters out there, but I went with this

It definately made a noticeable difference in sound, and I'm sure it breathes better too.

You can pick up an intake pipe and new filter to replace all of your stock intake parts on ebay for like 75$.........

Hmm, I was under the imprssion that a k & N filter itse'f lets in more air per minute ( flows more) tha a stock filter. Am I off here? Or are you considering restrictions PRE-filter?

probably considering restrictions pre filter. I bought a injen intake and cone filter for my 2g, made the turbo alot more noticeable, but didnt really feel much gain on the butt dyno.

Duh! It's more expensive... that's why it works better.

When i bought my car it had a cheapo OBX cone filter in it and when i put the FIPK in it seemed a little better so going from stock i'm assuming there would be a noticable difference
