I see a lot of engines with an air filter, then piping straight to the turbo.
On my 92 4g63 with aftermarket intercooler and air intake piping, someone seems to have jimmy rigged a connector. It looks like the air intake piping half way to the turbo has a hose, that goes to a value, that is run by a vaccume line, when open it seems to feed into the cyclone / throttle body area.
I'm assuming when you really hammer on it, the valve opens allowing air to bypass the turbo and feed directly into the throttle body.
I was wondering is this how the car works stock and someone tried to keep that functionality, if so, can I get rid of it? Should I?
I havn't seen another aftermarket intake with this so I figured i'd ask.
Also would this effect cold starting by any chance?
As always thank you for any help.
