I bought my DSM with no head unit in it but it has the Infinity system installed. I bought a Metra wiring harness and matched most of the wires to the corresponding colors. Then I grounded it to the chassis, and plugged in the pins.

But when I turn the key the head unit makes a CD ejecting sound and then just stops. I checked everything and it seems to be connected properly but still the unit does not light up or make sound other than the CD ejecting.

The fault could be at the factory wiring harness because there are a lot of hacked up wires under there that the previous owner fiddled with, but I'm no electrical guru so I can't say for myself.

I need someone to shine some light on this because I would really love to hear these speakers! The only thing not connected is the thick antenna cable as I still need to buy an adapter for it.

Right off the rip if you have a infinity system then its wired wrong. The infinity system uses low level (RCA) speaker inputs and not high level (speaker wire) so the harness should have 4 RCA's on another plug unless its been bypassed. Second, the sound that your hearing is the normal sound of when you hook up a radio to ground and constant power, sounds like you have a bad ignition wire or a blown fuse though. Check those fuses and get back to us, or better yet, use a volt meter and see if you have switched power at the radio, red wire on the metra harness! Its possible you have a bad radio too but unlikely,

I checked all my fuses and they're all fine. The head unit now only does the noise when grounded. So where do I find these 4 RCA cables? Do they connect from the factory harness to the head unit?

I'll check with a volt meter today.

I pulled out the fuse behind the unit, and all of the fuses in the dash fuse box were pulled and checked. That 70-7003 amp cable has 4 RCA cables, but my head unit only has a red and yellow. I think I'll have to get a Y splitter cable to go from 4 RCA to 2.

Yep.

I meant mine has a red and white not "yellow". But yeah, thanks for the help, I'll update when the 70-7003 arrives in the mail. But I don't understand why the little screen on the radio doesn't at least light up. I assume the 4 RCA only have to do with speakers and not the actual power. I'll have to go and check if I'm getting any power to the ignition wire.

E: I tested the ignition wire (thick blue one) and it gets no power, 0.00 volts. I don't know where this wire leads to so I can't track it, what can I do about it?

And also, the amp is supposed to be under the passenger seat, but I can't seem to find it, I'm having the suspicion that someone took it out.

It seems to run up behind the vents, though I can't pinpoint exactly where it leads to.

So I just got my metra harness, and the amp adapter doesn't fit!!

Some of the pins don't line up and I don't know if I should fold them or what. I called metra and they told me it should fit.

Edit: It turns out there is no amp and is bypassed for me, everything works now. I connected a piece of wire from the cigarette lighter to the harness to get my switched 12v power.
