aftermarket gauges in 1g cluster

Anyone know what size the stock fuel, oil pressure, and water temp gauges are in a 1g eclipse. I want to switch them out for aftermarket ones and I need to know what size to get. Also, if anyone has done this before, got any tips or advice?

I don't know myself, but I've been wanting to make a custom dash to replace the cluster in my 1Gs for years now. I've looked around on and off over the years but I haven't found anything I've liked.

Yeah me too. I know it can be done though cause I've seen lots of pics of people with aftermarket gauges in the stock cluster gauge holes. I just wanted to know if 52's or 60's fit right in or if you have to trim stuff to make em' fit. I really like the brushed aluminum and carbon fiber cluster bezels some people have too.

I just did a quick search and there's quite a few threads on people doing this. Unfortunately all the pics and links to the work are dead - I can't even look most of them up on Wayback Machine. Looks like we'll have to do it from scratch

I'm planning to do this in a couple months. The 52mm (2 1/16") are the gauges you need. Those factory gauges are right at 52mm. But it probably will require a little trimming. I have not attempted this yet, but I did just pick up an extra gauge cluster to see what all I have to do to make it work. Shouldn't be too hard.

the holes in the cluster are just a hair smaller than 2.5 probably about 2.25, just run a 2.5" hole saw bit from the back side and maybe do a little filling and the gauges will fit fine.

Can you cut away that green microchip type deal that the lights twist into.. I guess what im asking is, is it ok to jus take a hole saw all the way through the cluster from the back to the gauge face with out taking anything off besides the clear plastic on the front?

Interesting this topic is coming up now. I am in the middle of attempting this. I have to purchase another 1g cluster from Pick n Pull. And hack the hell out of the circuit board to see if it will still work. I want to see pics as well but can't find any. My idea is to use the stock gauges circuitry and needles but place the aftermarket gauge faces and shrouds on the cluster. So this will require disassembling your $$ shiny new gauges.

I KNEW it was here somewhere, just an oil gauge but you get the idea. also, putting aftermarket gauges in to a stock dash is generally because they are more accurate, not because the faces look good, so using stock circuitry/needles defeats the purpose imho, but to each his own I guess.

I have an aem uego gauge in place of my stock oil pressure gauge. It required a little trimming to fit, and some cutting on the edge to route the wiring.

donniekak- Did you you just cut a hole and slide in the gauge? It doesnt seem like it could be that simple

And the line cluster ownage is exactly what im talking about but it doesnt show any pictures of the back of the cluster or the inside to see exactly what he cut away and i cant find any pictures of the back or the inside of the cluster with this mod anywhere

What I've done for my car is take out the center vent bezel and install a sheet metal face that I cut myself. I cut holes in that, painted it black, and installed the gauges that way. It looks pretty good, IMO.
