He guys- I found some gauges I like that are made for a non-turbo, but the one that is made for a turbo is different and I don't like them as much. I have autometer oil pressure/temp and a boost gauge installed, so I wouldn't need them anyways. Would swapping in the non-turbo cluster work? Or would the needles be positioned wrong and be off? Sorry I did some searching and couldn't come up with this topic anywhere, any input would be greatly appreciated. :dsm:

the tach redlines at 6500 on an NT 2g and 7000 on a turbo. The spedometer on a NT 2g goes up to 160 and the turbo model i think is actually 20MPH less...idk why. The cluster should have different plug in areas in the back of the cluster, due to voltage, boost, water and oil temp readouts where as the nonturbo only has 1 gauge on each side. So i dont think it will work.
Just look around for the gauges you want....turbo/Non turbo models should have the same gauge options. good luck man.

Awakening a dead thread. Haha!

Yes i know i have woke up a dead thread. But i figured it is better than starting a new thread, right?

So from my last thread that i started, you can imagine i am in the process of sprucing up my interior with factory oem gauges and switches and such. i have already got all of the switches (even knowing that some just will not work at all no matter what i do). But what can i say, i hate blank faceplates.
READ MORE about the above at... http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/374544-power-switches-answer-me.html#post152247932

But now that i have all of those other switches installed (not all completely wired up yet though)... i was thinking about this today. Could i toss a gsx, gst/tsi gauge cluster in my RS? Reading this post (the only thread i could find that had any relevance to the question).

i already have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge so the stock turbo oil pressure gauge is useless to me anyway, not to mention it is inaccurate and even the turbo guys switch out to aftermarket. But even with that being said... will the pins line up to allow it to work at all? i know it will be inaccurate but that doesn't matter for my goal. (before it is asked... YES i do have an aftermarket gauge and sending unit already)

And is there a way to get the oem boost gauge to work? i mean, doesn't it just read the manifold pressure anyway? i know it will be inaccurate as well as the turbo guys also rely on an aftermarket boost gauge. But my GlowShift gauges all work (oil pressure, boost, narrowband o2). Shouldn't the stock boost be able to be read? if not it doesn't matter at all. Just wanted to ask.

And will it read proper coolant temperature? because the coolant gauge is on the other side near the gas gauge (i believe), so will that mess anything up?

Or will everything work fine except the boost and possibly the oil pressure?

On Manual 420A the red line is 7000RPM.
On Automatic 420A's it is 6500RPM.
The top speed isn't different either.

Here is a turbo cluster.

Here is a non turbo cluster.

I'm still looking for pictures of the back for both non turbo and turbo clusters.
But I think it will plug in, not sure sure if it'll work or not though.

i now have a NT 420a with the turbo gauge cluster installed. of course boost cannot be read, as there is no boost. However, i am having difficulty getting the oem oil pressure gauge to read.i have read on 2gnt how it is possible with an aftermarket oil pressure sending unit. That i already have, hooked to an aftermarket OP gauge. read about which wire is what and such. But just for demonstration i tested a few connections with very little success. if you ground the wire out the needle blasts way high (not good). even tho i don't care if the oem gauge is accurate or not, i have an aftermarket that is. i would still like to have it read something. i've read it will rise with voltage and such (shows how inaccurate they are already). at the time i was unable to get under my car so i took out my aftermarket OP gauge and tested it on that. ground=too high (again) thats a no go. positive=nothing (no change at all) that's a no go as well. tested it on the signal wire on the back of the gauge from the OP sender unit and the oem gauge reads correctly... almost. although the oem gauge reads properly now, the aftermarket gauge reads way too high now. so that's a no go again. Next i am going to run the wire and T it to the sending unit itself and see if that changes things at all.

if not... i have read that since it goes off of voltage, i could T off my current aftermarket OP sender unit with a oem OP dummylight signal and it will more just read the voltage on the dummylight (but it should at least move the needle as if its working correctly)
