ACT XACT Flywheel to crank-longer bolts?

I read a post at RMDSM.org that you might need longer than stock bolts for aftermarket flywheels, because they are thicker than the stocker where they bolt to the crank. Anyone have any experience with this?
Nope works fine with stock bolts but if your going to upgrade the flywheel may as well call APR and get better fasteners. :thumb:

I didn't know APR (the aftermarket wing company) now made flywheel bolts for DSMs. ;)

I know he meant ARP, just messing. However I wasn't aware they made flywheel bolts, got a link?

man im dumb sorry! Yes ARP does have them call and tell them the length, diameter, and thread pitch. sorry i dont have those specs on me yes you all can shoot me now. LOL!

A little loctite on the bolts after you bolted on your new flywheel goes along way. Also watch out that you don't smack you head with the torque wrench when your trying to torque them down. The bolt heads are real low profile, and I got the scar to prove it.

I just bolted in a Fidanza on Saturday.. Stock flywheel bolts worked fine with plenty of thread engagement.. Just make sure your using a good 1/2 " torque wrench thats plenty long for good leverage.. (Also make sure you use a 6 point socket.. those bolts are very very shallow)

If you are using a Fidanza or ACT flywheel, I would recommend using an A/T spacer plate and A/T flywheel bolts. They are about 4mm longer than M/T bolts, and you can actually get more bite into the threads of the crank with these. You MUST use the spacer, or the bolts will bottom out. Also, make sure to use loctite red when installing.

You can use Toyota Supra ARP flywheel bolts. They have the same thread pitch, just slightly longer. The A/T spacer/flywheel bolts are somewhere in the $25-35 range from the dealer. Can't quite remember, while the Supra ARP's are about $50-60.

Mitshu part number for the OE longer bolts is PN/ MD008839 which has a new part number PN/ MD031605. The spacer is important. Fidanza's Flywheel is not thicker but with the longer bolts the it will bottom out if a spacer (which is better for dispribute the torque across the Fly).~CLIFF

Be carefull even with the A/T spacer they may bottom out still. Which will be worse than using the stock bolts. So make sure you have enough clearance with the longer bolts, if not you must pilot the holes out so they are deeper.

I used the stock bolts also and have not had an issue. Even went to Jacktransmissions and he personally said I would be ok using the stock bolts with my fidanza flywheel and would even warranty the work if I had an issue.
