I just purchased a new transmission for my '93 AWD Talon. Also an ACT 2100 clutch kit. I want to replace the flywheel. I could go with a lightened, machined stocker or purchase the ACT wheel. I would like some opinions from those who have used either of these flywheels and your thoughts on what you have.
Thanks, Mark

i have the act and i love it....revs alot faster....id stay away from lightening your stock one....if you plan to drag more id go with the act...or auto cross maybe look into the fidanza...

The X-Act Flywheel is made of Chromaly, prone to heat-warping, and is difficult (if not impossible) to have resurfaced. If you want an aftermarkey flywheel get the Fidanza. Great piece of gear and a good price too. Should have gotten an RRE X-Clutch instead of the ACT2100...

Since the ACT clutch was highly regarded by many including Buschur that's the way I went. I'm not going Fidanza or any other aluminum wheel. That leaves the X-ACT or the lightened stock. Lightened stock has no votes and the X-ACT has some positive responses. I am only upgrading as parts need replacing and then only to a moderate level. Especially apreciate advice/opinions from guys who have actually used a product. I'm not going to race the car and therefore find it hard to imagine I would ever warp the XACT beyond the paramaters of a resurfacing. Perhaps there will be others who have been unable to resurface due to a high degree of warpage. That's what this post is all about! Thanks!

XACT kicks ass bro. Highly recommended. Shift points will change a bit, but as soon as you shift and hit the gas, you are taking off again. There is no lag in shifting gears to rpm's. You will see what i mean if you get one and put it in. :thumb: XACT.

I have one but I didn't really notice much of a difference. I would do it agian though (for saftey and reliablity reasons).

Two previous posts of mine that would have shown up in a search:

The ACT Streetlite is great for street driving and cheap to. When driving you wont even notice a difference between the stock and light flywheels. They are great for double-clutching and downshifting because it will rev quicker when not in gear.

I have the ACT Streetlite flywheel and love it.

The stock flywheel will give you a bit better launchs at the drag strip. A lighter than stock flywheel requires you to rev a little higher to get the as good a launch as with a stock unit.

Youll notice that when coming from a complete stop, youll have to slip the clucth a little longer at the same rpm's.

About the "performance" difference between the two, I cant comment on that. Though because of the difference in weights I can tell you that if I were an auto-xer I would get the Fidanza, a serious drag racer a stock flywheel, but because I like both aspects of racing I got the ACT Streetlite.

I ordered the wheel. Got a great price from ProStreetOnline. Now I have a new tranny and ACT 2100 plus the flywheel, just need to find an honest competent mechanic for the install. That will be the most difficult task! Mark

Thanks for buying the flywheel from us - hope you enjoy it.

What area are you from? We can recommend a shop for you.

Thanks again.
